Arcturius - Full Spectrum Artist Spotlight

The Astonics makes a welcome return to Omni Music with more of his discordant drumfunk sounds. The mayhem starts with the chop-tastic breaks of Freedom where the drums really are given free-range to deliver an onslaught at the listener. Timeshift follows with dystopian synths and ominous breaks that splinter in and out from a distant time. The title track Atlantic Force is another tour-de-force of breaks as amens twist and turn in all directions to accompany the eerie sci-fi soundscapes. The EP ends on the rolling breaks and sinister sounds of Planet 9 am audacious journey through dark mystical fields of timbre.

Music for those in need

The ever-evolving situation surrounding the Covid-19 pandemic has undeniably caused high levels of uncertainty and apprehension across the globe, with the music industry being just one of many that has been hit hard by the crisis. We therefore wanted to do our bit to help.

‘A SINE of Relief’ is a compilation on our recently launched SINE Audio imprint that comprises of a broad selection of drum and bass from both new and established artists. We want to show how music can act as a sign of relief in otherwise rocky times, whilst also raising money for those that need it. Any proceeds from the album will be split between the two charities mentioned below, as well as any of the contributing artists that have lost income due to the situation.

Our charities: The NHS has been put under enormous strain at the moment, with staff and volunteers around the country working extreme hours to compensate for this, ultimately putting themselves at risk to help the most vulnerable. It therefore goes without question that we wanted to raise money for NHS Charities Together.

Additionally, with an array of mental health issues already affecting such a significant number of people, it is no surprise that the pandemic is having a worsening effect on this. Thankfully, we are living in times that people are learning to open up about these issues without stigma, something that can often be seen within the music industry itself. It was therefore important for us to include Mind as our second charity.

S-capade got into the sound of hardcore jungle in the early nineties, based on his background as an active drummer for more than 15 years. He supported DJ sets with the drums and then he became a DJ himself. He is promoter and resident at the Massive Tunes, Heat! and Oxygen partys in Aachen. S-capade regularly plays out at different drum'n'bass events in the three country corner Germany, Netherlands and Belgium. His style is from dark & rollin into the big bad and heavy sound.
