Yeah baby! Scattermusic's 22nd release comes thick and fast courtesy of Brisbane's Whatson Watts. By day, Whatson runs his own studio, recording and producing bands non-stop. After hours though, things start to get strange as he pools together influences of 3ball, techno and tropical bass to create a thick brew, perfect for both DJ sets and sacrificial ceremonies. Kicking things off is the title jam, Cancun which could only be described as an orchestra of marimbas, played with claw hammers. Yucatan, the second original keeps things on the percussive tip, but this time flipping the groove into the triplet dimension. A kind of homage to both mexican raves and german hardstyle. 

Coming in first on remix duties, is Scattermusic office-guy Mat Cant who adds his signature late-night club vibe. Lush chords build and build, before dropping you into a stomping UK groove.  Second up, the latest addition to the label's ever growing roster of artists Galtier takes Yucatan and does away with those hectic triplets. Instead he adds a super-shifty metallic groove along with the kind of stomping claps that would make Dance Mania proud. Rounding out the pack on full throttle, Wednesday The Rat re-works Yucatan, twisting the vocals to within an inch of their life over hard house, 2013 style.

Scattermusic brings you it's 23rd official release, taking the title track from Sk Simeon's debut EP and having it remixed by two of Europe's hottest producers. 

First up from Stockholm, the tropical bass duo Cocotaxi take Loving Machine and flip it into a slowed down Reggaeton grinder. Sk's vocals are left to ride low, alongside bleeping synths and tight vocal chops. Lovers or tropical-bass need only apply!

Secondly, the German - French duo Hat+Hoodie bump out a remix which takes things in the very opposite direction, putting you on your front foot. Big 808 kicks rumble below, snares rattle over the top and there just a touch of west coast P-funk to be heard if you listen close.

Scattermusic is hyped to present its 24th official release, a long overdue EP from respected Melbourne tropical flavor purveyor; Tomderson. From backyard bungalows to nightclubs to festival stages, using shoes as drinking-aids and hommus as kryptonite – Tomderson, is not your average club jock. Touching on and corrupting Tropical Bass, Moombahton, World House, Dancehall, Trap and Hip Hop without-a-flinch to please the masses with every release.

Congo Drum features Tom teaming up with Melbourne MC Di Apprentice to create the perfect blend of tough dancehall vocals with even tougher club drums, drawing on elements of Moombahton and Twerk while skillfully dodging the most obvious tricks. It’s the future soundtrack to late nights in dark clubs where music from around the globe collides like tropical fruit, rum and ice in a blender.

Remixes come courtesy of Matt Sofo (one of Melbourne’s most notorious “big room” producers) who flips the track into a stomping rave anthem, more suitable for a festival main stage than a dark nightclub. Secondly New York’s DJ Melo (Sol Selectahs / Kingman Fire / Moombahton Massive) who adds some moodier elements and cools thing out into the perfect club tool.

Scattermusic is excited to announce its 19th official release, the sophomore EP from Melbourne producer Wednesday The Rat. A sparkling effort featuring two heavy originals backed up with 3 remixes. The release kicks off with Pedo's Anthem, a quasi tropical squeaker, featuring pounding percussion underneath a party balloon lead. Second off the rank is Tom Boy, another club jam but this time around the squeaking has been replaced with some heavy rave styled stabs. Make no mistake folks, both tracks are nothing less than peak time efforts, the only thing you need worry about is what to play afterwards 

On the remix front comes London's Tomb Crew with their halftime version, heavy on the 808s which provide just the right kind of rattle for Wednesday The Rat's lead synths to bubble over the top of. Second in line comes Scattermusic's most recent signing, Watson Watts who keeps things club while adding his signature metallic percussion to give the track a little more tropical flaire. Late but far from least Melbourne's dirty duo Swisher flip the track upside down into their own trappy world of haunted reverbs and spacious as space drums.

Loving Machine is the story of Melbourne’s Afro Lothario, SK Simeon. His performance on the dancehall stage has won him heads and hearts across the Australian continent, with a delivery style borrowing reggae / dancehall techniques from his native city of Kampala, Uganda.  Whether using English or Luganda, the story is a youthful romance between fun lyrics and party vibes.

At the forefront of this release, are the boisterous lyrics and performance styles for which Sk Simeon has become widely known. First up is the title track, which could easily be procured as the music bed for some creative Viagra advertising. Second track in, SK’s tempestuous nature leads to a 180 turn, working with Akimera to duet over a bold dancehall ballad. Rounding out the EP is Nzendi Wakabi, the anthem to which SK steps down onto the Tarmac at Kololo airstrip, on a return trip to Uganda having conquered the music world.  

Providing the bedrock for the EP, is Melbourne's premium tropical production trio: Congo Tardis #1. After witnessing SK Simeon’s performance at the legendary club night “I Love Dancehall”,  all conversation’s headed towards a mutual admiration for modern African sounds such as Kwaito, Coupe Decale and Ugandan dancehall.  From there on, the collaboration proved instinctive, blending together his signature lyrical style with Congo Tardis #1's modern club sensibilities, while also integrating guest production work from Melbourne studio guru: Harmon. 

The release of this EP from Scattermusic resembles a new vision for the club label, promoting a vocalist forthmost while using their production team as the backbone. The combination of SK, CT#1 and Scattermusic has procured a niche in the Melbourne club sound, yet delivers it globally.
