"What truly inspired me? Just the chance to play at Temple… and the fact that it happened to be my dear friend Josephine’s birthday. That alone made it feel really special. I knew that with such a meaningful occasion, a sold-out night was guaranteed—so I had to show up fully, mostly for myself.

Then, when you told me I’d be closing, and that you were feeling downtempo vibes… a whole universe of possibilities opened up. I started thinking about tracks I hadn’t played anywhere else before.

With this kind of set, I always try to open things up stylistically—because the moment asks for it."

Over the past decade, his releases have graced numerous techno labels, marking him as a prolific figure in the scene. 
His work continues to inspire and redefine the contours of electronic music, making him a true innovator in the techno landscape.
In 2022, Gëinst founded his own label, ITAE, a platform dedicated to pushing the envelope of electronic music.

"Ambient took an important place in my life over the years. Listening mostly to non-dance oriented music in my daily routine, while producing my own stuff aside.
This mix was a great opportunity to share some unreleased works, blend with fresh material from friends"

Mostra and Deep Breakfast Series are collaborating for a second year to bring you home some of the sounds that echoed through the festival’s unique spaces. Mostra is an intimate, independent festival dedicated to forward-thinking and experimental electronic music, taking place over four days in Barcelona.

Among the featured performances was nigul, the ambient drone project of Jaume Muntsant (also known as Droneghost). Active since 2004, nigul explores themes of darkness and fear through dense sonic textures, field recordings, and evolving soundscapes. His hybrid set unfolded on the second day of performances at Fabra i Coats: Fàbrica de Creació.

Hot Wave - Kambuja

Next one in our OYE Podcast series is our regular customer Katharina aka Kat Davids. Her beautiful mix moves between deep and dub house. It has a dreamy and light structure, it flows… Including some all-time classics this is a must listen piece of music.

Berlin based DJ & Producer Kat Davids' selections are inspired by the depth of Detroit, Body-High Dub house, Deep house and Dub techno. Whether holding a tight atmosphere at a club or letting loose at festivals - always striving to allow people to lose oneself in a musical journey for a night.

With an intimate space that feels raw and honest, Kats’ music is characterized by her own vocals, field recordings, playful percussions and driving bass lines. Her releases “dust” on Intercept Records, the single “Haunted” on Tresor Records, and a collaboration track with Cecilia Tosh on the Nachtdigital Vinyl LP, will be followed by her debut Vinyl EP in 2025.

She has played at some well-known institutions such as Tresor, Watergate, Revier Südost, ELSE Club, Weltspiele Hannover and toured in Latin America and South Africa with diverse DJ gigs and DJ Workshops. Since her LIVE Set debut at Berghain / Säule 2024, she had LIVE appearances at festivals like Nachtdigital.

Since November 2022, she has hosted her own regular show on the well-established THF Radio Berlin, featuring over 50 guests ranging from newcomers to legends. In the summer of 2022, she also founded the FLINTA* collective V.A. Femme* with the aim of fostering mutual support and providing a space to learn and exchange musically.

There are few names as widely loved in clubland as Bristol-based producer Omar McCutcheon, AKA Batu.

His label Timedance, currently celebrating its ten-year anniversary, has been instrumental in shaping a certain corner of contemporary electronic music. It champions a mutant, rhythmic, UK-flavoured sound that escapes any obvious genre touchstones, as well as spotlighting the careers of artists like Verraco, Ploy and Hodge who push musical and cultural boundaries.

In this Exchange, McCutcheon sat down with Resident Advisor's editor, Gabriel Szatan, in London to reflect on the label's Afrofuturist philosophy, its journey over the past decade and the sense of purpose and direction that have developed over time. He spoke about the impact that scenes beyond the UK—such as China, South Africa, Brazil and Mexico—have had on his productions and label curation, and how they offer fresh perspectives that contrast with Europe's sometimes overly nostalgic take on dance music. He also discussed finding positivity in a dark time, and music's enduring potential to inspire and connect.

"Our nostalgia obsession has trapped us in loops of aesthetic déjà vu and algorithmic déjà entendu. But what if this yearning is less about the past and more about our inability to move forward? In Ghosts of My Life, cultural theorist Mark Fisher called this phenomenon “the slow cancellation of the future.” He argued that contemporary culture had lost its capacity to imagine radical newness. Instead of moving forward we’ve entered a loop of retro-styled repetition, where the aesthetics of past decades return stripped of context or meaning. Culture, he wrote, had become a "ghost world" haunted by lost futures; futures that once felt possible but now feel unreachable. What choice do we have, then, but to look back and scavenge meaning from the cultural leftovers we’ve already consumed?"

A sonic portrait of a city suspended in twilight, it traces the quiet pulse of urban dusk — moody and gently immersive. As the day exhales and the skyline softens, textures emerge — quiet synths, distant echoes, and the hush of passing lives.

Le Code is a French ambient artist known for creating soft atmospheric soundscapes with subtle synthesizer or piano sounds inspired by nature (especially water and the ocean). He also co-founded Mare Nostrum Label, largely continuing the ocean theme.
