Reworking any Nirvana track is a risky business – akin to tampering with a musical holy grail – but when it’s done well it can create a truly mind-blowing piece of house music, which is exactly what South African duo Goldfish have done with “Heart Shaped Box”.

Already winning a swathe of top flight DJ support, the remake features 18-year-old Cape Town native Julia Church on vocals and sees Dom Peters and Dave Poole crafting a new future house-influenced bass line to their trademark sound of organic instrumentals. When @ramiofficial and I heard the original vocals of Closer to You, we immediately thought of different ways to switch up the song and give it a different up-beat feel yet keep the emotions flowing through the vocals.
