Dilemma Podcast #042 Leon Schmidt from Herford (Germany) Leon Schmidt is a 22 years old Techno DJ based in Germany. By reaching the age of 16 he discovered electronic music. All started with Deep House and Minimal Techno, but it didn’t take long until he moved on to harder techno sounds. A rave at “Tanz der Sterne 2016” was decisive for that development. Inspired and exhilarated by this event he started to focus more and more on Deejaying and developed his own style which he himself describes as quiet varied and multicolored. “I always aim to create something special. Something that tells a story and takes the listener with me on journey.” 
In Herford his passion for techno music amazed people in local clubs such as Musikbox Minden, X Herford and Fla Fla Herford.

Mein Name ist Leon Schmidt. Ich bin 22 Jahre alt 
und komme aus Herford.
Ich lege seit ca. 6 Jahren auf.
Meinen Technostil würde ich als vielfältig beschreiben. Mir macht es Spaß hypnotisierende sowie treibende Lieder zu kombinieren, ohne dabei die Spannung sowie den roten Faden des Sets zu verlieren.
Ich versuche immer etwas besonderes zu kreiren. Etwas, das den Zuhörer mit auf eine Technoreise nimmt.
 
Erfahrungen habe ich bisher in der "Musikbox Minden", im "X Herford", oder im "FlaFla Herford" gemacht, wo unsere Gruppe unter dem Namen "Abfahrt Oetinghausen" eine unserer eigenen Technopartys veranstaltete, die in den vorigen Jahren in privaten Räumlichkeiten bzw. dem Hauskeller meiner Eltern stattgefunden haben.

𝗗𝗜𝗠 𝗣𝗼𝗱𝗰𝗮𝘀𝘁 𝟬𝟬𝟴 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 @leon-schmidt-541472218

Leon Schmidt has been making music since he was 16 years old. A visit to the event “𝙏𝙖𝙣𝙯 𝙙𝙚𝙧 𝙎𝙩𝙚𝙧𝙣𝙚” in the X Herford was decisive for this. The Würzburg DJ 𝘗𝘢𝘱𝘱𝘦𝘯𝘩𝘦𝘪𝘮𝘦𝘳 hung up and dismantled the club as if there was no tomorrow. He already had first contacts with house and minimal techno, but that was something new for him.

This experience opened up a new world for Leon in which he became more and more immersed. He bought a Hercules DJ-MP3 E2 & spent more and more of his free time deejaying. The music got bigger status in his life became steadily bigger & he as a personality, took a new path for the future - the one as musician.

He got to know new friends &  adventures which shaped him as an artist. His style has always developed with him, right up to his current direction -  rolling, driving, raw and hypnotic beats. The DJ and producer “𝘚𝘦𝘵𝘢𝘰𝘤” from Manchester played a decisive role. Often heard from Leon Schmidt you get fast-moving interlocking tracks

He has already been able to prove his skills several times. a highlight from 2021, for example, was the participation in the final of the “𝙏𝙝𝙚 𝘽𝙞𝙜 𝘽𝙧𝙚𝙖𝙠” 𝘾𝙤𝙣𝙩𝙚𝙨𝙩𝙨 of 𝘽𝙚𝙖𝙩𝙥𝙤𝙧𝙩. Performances in the 𝘟 𝘏𝘦𝘳𝘧𝘰𝘳𝘥 with his b2b DJ colleague “Meise” are also among the absolute highlights.

In the 8th episode of our DIM podcast, Leon Schmidt presents us with a divers set. You can hear rolling, driving and raw tracks in the range of 132-136 BPM. Nervous and stressful sounds as well as groovy beats are part of it - techno that is fun and stimulates to fidget!

The Würzburger DJ “Pappenheimer” was playing and this act was a key experience.
Inspired and exhilarated by this event he started to focus more and more on Deejaying and developed his own style which he himself describes as quiet varied and multicolored. “I love playing tracks such as hypnotizing and pushing sounds at the same time. I always aim to create something special. Something that takes the listener with me on journey of techno music.” In Herford his passion for techno music amazed people in local clubs such as Musikbox Minden and X Herford where him and his friend Meise played regularly before the Corona breakout. Not to forget the event series “Abfahrt Oetinghausen” which him and his friends organized in own locations which contain an own basement, called the “Bunker” and the Fla Fla Herford.
