Caution! For the fourthcoming release on Dance Petrol Records, Schegg goes into full attack mode with his latest EP „Shir Khan“! Previously present on the label showcasing his skills on the remix duties, the munich dj and producer returns for a four track, so get ready for some electro jungle boogie! The EP builds on broken beaks intertwined with synthetic soundscapes and lays it foundation on heavy kicks and gnarly basslines! Catching the listener with a minimum number of elements used to max effect, the lead track of the EP „Shir Khan“ shows who’s the real king of the jungle! „Baloo“ continues with pan pipe delight hitting just the right spot for pure balearic bliss. Sticking to the rules of „Shir Khan“, the third track „Bagheera“ returns with synth madness, diving into more mellow and melodic fields. „Kaa“ ditches the 4/4 beat entirely and closes the EP with some feel good broken beats.

Bringing a compilation to life is a strenuous and painful project. Bringing a compilation series to life is an even more strenuous and painful endeavour. Reaching the fourth volume of a compilation series must be an unimaginably strenuous and painful mission. But the Dance Petrol Records lads succeeded big time and "Selected Fuels 004" is coming hot before the end of the season.

And this is the fattest one so far: Featuring a massive selection of thirteen gems – split into six originals, six edits, and one remix –, the VA impresses with a stunning parade of House Music & sub-genres. Expect Deep, Progressive, Melodic, Chicago, Acid, Funky, and Hardgroove references made with love by some family members like Etur Usheo, Jonas Gottlieb, Jorginho Joao, Masupilami, So.undso, and Schegg, and newcomers such as Samy B and OHYEAH. 

Having previously appeared on Toy Tonics, Colore, Clepsydra, Boutade Musique, and DPR itself with solid and well-received originals and remixes, Schegg is one of those young talents out there who manage to deliver a refreshing take on how to combine seamlessly different influences even at such young age. His contribution to the soirée is definitely one of the highlights of the seminal release! On top of its 135 BPM, "Higher" comes wrapped in a proper peak-time aura triggered by a spot-on bassline, fast-paced marimba-like leads, arpeggiated vocal hooks, and mellow synth layers. What an outstanding piece by the skilled German virtuoso!

Munich based musician, sound collector and artist Schegg (aka “Scaled Chord Harmony & Electronic Groove Grounds”) crawls through the wormhole for his third outing on clipp.art. A minute between stints, (his last extended player release on clipp.art came out in 2019) but where “Dream Emulator” drifted into corners of detroit electro, groove-heavy house, full frontal breakbeat, aquatic acid and UK rave, “Sonic Ritual” is a trio of tracks that finds the Munich based musician delving into new 4D angles inside the tesseract. It’s a space where he builds on his enthusiasm for vintage-sound tracks, tribal rhythms, and silky chords, albeit all wrapped up in a raw housey music kinda way. Oh, and he adds some borderline Baltimore breakbeat and early morning ambience into the mix.

It’s interesting to think about the concept of a “Sonic Ritual” and not get trapped in the boring utilitarian idea of a customary practice or soul-sucking routine of everyday existence. There can also be pleasure in repetition. The 4/4 hypnotic loop of club music is a good place to start. And I think most people reading this would have surrendered to the habits of a regular dancefloor visit at some point in their life.

But let’s talk about the music: If I had to imagine a scenario where you would be correct in throwing on “Memory Loop” then it wouldn’t be while drinking coffee at 7a.m, or on the treadmill at the gym. I’d opt instead to blaze a fat one and watch spider web shadows through my window on a spring afternoon.

“Shamanic Dance” won’t summon an ancient curse, although it sounds really good if you watch the jungle scenes in Raiders of the Lost Arc at half speed with the sound muted and play this over the top instead.

Finally, title track “Sonic Ritual” evokes less of a literal ritual and more like an everyday ceremony where you listen to heaps of Orbital and then remember it’s the year 2025. Its good stuff, man.

On his first release with us back in May 2019, Schegg said ”The most important thing is to make human-like music for the heart and soul. There should be some healing sound at the dancefloor, something to dream about and to forget all your troubles.” Many moons later, in a world where everything has changed, it’s comforting to find some habits stay the same.

Schegg stands for “Scaled Chord Harmony & Electronic Groove Grounds” and pretty much speaks for itself. Like most of his contemporaries Schegg's musical journey winds its way through many different styles & influences but it was his enthusiasm for vintage-sound tracks often combined with tribal rhythms, strong chords and silky vocals, mixed between raw house, and disco elements, with a hot plate of some oldschool techno tropes that found its way on our clipp.art sound system.

Says the Munich German native ”The most important thing is to make human-like music for the heart and soul. There should be some healing sound at the dancefloor, something to dream about and to forget all your troubles.”
