London-based producer and @polar-dance co-founder @blixa96 lines up his debut EP on Vista Recordings, presenting three brooding and foreboding bass-heavy tracks.

We’re incredibly proud to announce the details of the first release on our label - an 8-track debut album from our resident Adam Pits. Inspired by nature and written during the first lockdown, the album shows off Adam’s classical cello background as well as a broad range of electronic styles you’ll already be familiar with. In his own words:

“2020 became a year of turning misfortunes into new opportunities. The feelings of clubbing neglect and social deprivation were prominent and as a result I found myself locked away in the studio with nothing better to do than to write the music that I wished I was hearing on a large sound system in a room full of sweaty rave-goers. I was lucky enough to be surrounded by friends who were able to drag me out of the studio and get outside for some real TLC from nature. After copious amounts of elderflower picking and mushroom foraging I found myself at peace with the idea that maybe the studio wasn't my only safe place. This ended up being the catalyst for many of the ideas in the album, and in turn, helped me realise the similarities between the beauty of repetition in both music and nature. 
A Recurring Nature has come out as a genuine representation of where I’m at in my musical journey. Whilst seeking to express the aspects of music that most resonated with me, I wanted to also test myself against the elements where I felt least comfortable.”

The LP will come in both digital and 2x12” vinyl formats, with the latter featuring full art from Patch and mastering from the renowned Analogcut studio. Pressed at Record Industry and distributed by One Eye Witness. Out 16th July.

On 21st September the rising French DJ/producer Simo Cell presents new mini album ‘YES.DJ’ – his first solo record since 2018 – released on his own label TEMƎT. A celebration of dance music culture, each of these heavy-duty, titanium-plated bangers are a tribute to different styles of beats, reinterpreted and suffused with his distinct personality.

The release also comes with a fanzine, which continues the celebration of DJing and dancefloors from a sideways perspective, curating photos taken by Simo of drinks tokens from clubs around the world.

Far far away in the infamous Saint-Etienne Kingdom live and breath Anouar Redjem Cheibane, Guillaume Lamorte & Jacques Satre. The three members of Le Marais surfaced from the gloomy waters of 2020 fall to gather balearic, folk, new age and ambient trance inspirations over an amazing eponymous LP on French Besoins Premiers.

Following the label taste in flowery, poetic music (with Organizatsiya's 'Strane Leoni', Lenny Frings' 'Ontological Outlines' or Modeux des Cieux's 'Constant Run'...), the trio definitely defined its own touch with this 11-track release, made of dreamy synths, autotuned lyrism & spoken words, tremendous electric guitar leads and nebulous sounds, set against an ogre-and-fairy-tales medieval background.

Moscow based Ivan Karasev aka Torn inked his Samurai affiliation in 2017 with his first-ever solo vinyl release on Shiro, a sub-label for highlighting new artists. 

In the 5 years that have passed since this release, the Torn name has progressed into a widescreen sonic project leaving an indelible mark not only on DnB but also reaching into the outer edges of the underground Techno scene. 

As well as his monster debut EP (Internal - SMDE10) on the main Samurai label in 2018, Torn became one of the few artists to garner a release on Homemade Weapons' imprint Weaponry in 2019, a year which also saw him release an EP of Grey Area style Techno on Horo and a collab EP in the same style with Sam KDC and Korse as Vermisst, also on Horo. 

Since these releases, Torn has teamed up with fellow Russian artist Roho for an EP of percussive floor shakers in 2021 on Samurai Music (Fatum - SMDE19) and several self-released projects direct to his growing base of devoted Torn heads. In the background, the last few years Ivan has been diligently refining and experimenting with constructions for his debut LP for the Samurai Music label.

Borderline fulfils the promise of Ivans musical ascendancy in our sub-scene netherworld between DnB and Techno. Gut-punch kicks entwine with dense atmospheric layers, gnawing mid-riffs, and impeccably honed percussive propulsion. The cake is iced meticulously with guest collabs from Samurai Music top tier affiliates Homemade Weapons, Last Life, label head Presha and a tempo switch up to close the LP with the help of dungeon master Sam KDC and close cohort Korse.

Borderline plants a confident, empowered, flag on the electronic music landscape with Torn's name on it.

The Escape Of My Own Darkness

Originaire de la région stéphanoise, Schemer évolue dans un univers mariant dark ambient electronica et techno. Il aime créer des climats sombres et imprévisibles, loin des sentiers battus de la techno binaire, en combinant nappes, textures industrielles, rythmes breakés et vrilles technoïdes aux pieds lourds et aux boucles obsédantes. Dans son sillage l’auditoire est conduit à travers un paysage sonore contrasté et déroutant, mais délivrant toujours de sérieuses décharges d’énergie. 

Pilier du collectif Positive Education, Schemer s’inscrit dans une veine techno avant-gardiste, tout en demeurant fidèle aux origines du genre. On l’a vu récemment sur la scène régionale (Ninkasi Kao, le Fil…) se produire aux côtés d’artistes comme Jeff Mills, Clark ou IVVVO.
