Local Talk is a Swedish label known globally as a trusted source of timeless House music with influences from Jazz, Funk and Soul.
Whether jacking, raw or deep, each release is compiled with care and attention to detail, and one of the things that binds them together is an honesty that doesn’t follow a fashion and hype.
Working closely with artists including HNNY, Kyodai, Art Of Tones and Crackazat to mention just a few, the label has played a large role in many a success story. Last year Local Talk had its fifth birthday, but its strict parents Mad Mats and Tooli wanted to give their child a lesson in patience and said it couldn’t open its presents or invite its friends round for a party until 2017. Now 2017 has arrived, Local Talk is actually five and a half, but the celebrations can finally begin and this 5 ½ years compilation is the big present that has been causing all the excitement. Eagerly unwrapped, this LP does not disappoint. Once the paper is removed, the contents include a special ten track release, which showcases unreleased tracks from the labels close-knit group of family and friends. Family friends Art of Tones opens the release with an outstanding track, that full of birthday wishes and Jazz undertones kicks off the birthday party. Uncles, cousins and well-wishers from across the globe all drop in to join the shindig.
Many of the artists who feature on this release have been involved with the label since its conception. Those making their debut have been long time supporters, contributing musical gifts to mark the labels coming of age, plus show their continued support for the years to come as Local Talk continues to grow and mature.

SB PREMIERE: Ruhrmann & Rockwell - Cape York '84 [Amikron records]

New York vocalist Kosmo Kint joined the Toy Tonics crew. Born in Trinidad and raised in New York City, Kosmo has been part of the recent Brooklyn scene, singing in several projects in NYC before moving to Berlin two years ago. To find like minded people to create new lyrics driven dancemusic.
 
In Berlin he teamed up with the Toy Tonics boys and now TT boss Kapote and the crew are working with him in Berlin Kreuzberg to find a new R&B & Disco influenced style of electronic dance music.
The first release is a collabo between french talent Mangabey and Kosmo Kint - produced by Kapote. 
The 2 songs have a chilled L.A. G Funk vibe that makes you think about certain Dr. Dre productions from the 90ies combined with some broken beats and 4 to the floor house vibes.
The song might remember some french touch tracks too and some might think about that West London early 2000 "Dego" vibe maybe. Anyway, its new and there is not a name yet for that style. Let’s see where the TT crew will bring Kosmo Kint sonically over the next years.
