Here we go with our next summer refresher, the Garibaldi, for your listening pleasure! It has been prepared by the fantastic up-and-coming act out of South Africa, Desiree, who has been creating a buzz in the international scene lately and just celebrated her premiere at Berlin's Watergate last week. Her mix comes out balanced and refreshing, with deep, sweet and soulful summer notes all intermingling in the perfect sip. 

The emergence of electronic music in Johannesburg has become the focus of international attention, spanning a myriad of sub-genres and featuring a collection of world-class DJs. Among them, Desiree is a prominent figure. Equally at ease showcasing cutting-edge threads on the cat-walk and spinning the sketchiest new tracks in underground South African deep-house clubs, Desiree represents feminine intelligence, empowerment and style, effortlessly traversing careers between the fashion and music industries. 

When she is not on the runway, Desiree is a resident DJ and co-founder for a women’s music collective, ironically named Boys Club. In the space of two years, Desiree has become a regular attraction at some of Johannesburg’s most popular events. Resident DJ at The Rhythm, and previously Surreal Electronica, she has featured on line-ups with Black Coffee, Elif and Da Capo, and played at the Grand Moon and Nouvel An Sauvage in Ivory Coast. 

Desiree’s sonic palette incorporates alternative electronic sounds inspired by Thom Yorke, Bonobo and Gui Boratto, fused with afro-house and deep-tech by Osunlade, Guy Mantzur, Jonathan Kaspar and Sobek. She cites the Rocco mix of Ralf Gum’s ‘All This Love For You’ as her all-time favourite house track. 

Known as a taste-maker among her peers, Desiree made the Top 10 of the Budweiser sponsored SA King of the Decks competition in 2020. Her experience has fine-tuned Desiree’s skills as a performer, enabling her participation in the 2019 Rackless Kazi DJ Residency in Zambia as the South African representative for this unique women-focused programme. She has acquired an ambition to expand into the realm of music production and is currently working on original material for release soon.

We're extremely happy to welcome our next guest, a DJ and producer from Soweto, a township located South-West of Johannesburg, South Africa. While is remix of Stimming's Pidgeons is on repeat since weeks in the Schirmchendrink headquarters, we're definitely considering his exclusive mix on this channel a new favorite of ours as well. Please join us in welcoming the one and only Fka Mash with his sexy though melancholic and 100% deep Sparkling Water!

It was in 2016, when Fka Mash layed his footprint in his hometown, across South Africa and slowly into the world - both as a DJ and Producer. After his first release with Stay True Sounds, owned by South Africa's Kid Fonque, he suddenly appeared on playlists from notable names in the industry such as Black Coffee, Jimpster, Themba or Sebastien Léger to name a few.

The previous two years saw Fka Mash continue to collaborate with renowned global artists such as Bongeziwe Mabandla, Pablo Bolivar, Nico de Andrea, Lemon & Herb and Stimming, the latter for this outstanding remix mentioned above.

Fka Mash has founded his record label called September Bloom Records just months ago, which is the new outlet for sharing his music with the world.

Definitely a talent to watch closely and not an insider tip anymore. Glad to have you on our show!

The pandemic saw him lock into the studio, his musical instincts kicking into high gear to emerge with his new all original live set, including energetic spotlight moments with his lifelong friend the electric guitar, as well as launching the ZERO label with a top 10 release.   

Today Lovecraft is best known for its soul touching, body moving, and heart binding music, and his productions are often said to have the perfect mix of sexy mystique and deep edginess, exemplifying and embodying the city he calls home:  New York.

We're back with some strong stuff this week: Hicky & Kalo like their Whiskey neat and present this week's exclusive episode on Schirmchendrink. We love their powerful music and are extremely happy they included some brand new and unreleased tracks in the mix!

Hicky & Kalo are a DJ and Producer duo born and raised in Montreal, Canada. Both classical musically trained and both having a diploma in electronic music at the University Of Montreal, they have gone on to craft a stellar reputation for their inimitable edge, commitment to the scene and penchant for deep melodic grooves. 

The young pair, resident of the famous Stereo Montreal club and founders of budding imprint records label Plaisirs Sonores Records, (@PlaisirsSonoresRecords) are now firmly placed among the vanguard in dictating the new sound of the worldwide underground melodic scene.

Alistair Young, better known as Alley SA, is a music producer and DJ from Port Elizabeth, South Africa. His cocktail of choice is the Caripirinha!

Alley SA has been making music for the past six years and a DJ for eight years. He has released music on records labels such as Gallo Records, the Purr, RYNTH, Minded Music, Bekool Records and 3rd Avenue. 

His Organic House style caught our attention with his most recent EP "Origin", just out on One Of A Kind two weeks ago.

The Nueva Cuba is a subtle twist on the traditional Rum-an-Coke, using additional spices and tonic water. It's the drink of choice of our next guest on the show, Emotional Tourist.

Emotional Tourist, by his name Cosmin Stroe is a DJ/Producer from Romania, Bucharest, blending deep, progressive house and their sub-genres vibes into original tracks and revisits. He made his debut into electronic scene in 2016 under his initial alias, Andrew Case, where he released tracks on Hernan Cattaneo's label, Sudbeat, on Manual Music, Sound Avenue and many others.

The E.T. project was created on 2018, with the first track released on Shanti Moscow Radio, which was initially vinyl only. After making waves by the end of 2020 summer with a supreme EP on Kindisch, the Romanian released a stunning edit of Sade to claim the nod as one of the tracks of the year. He continued to make some of the best deep and melodic sounds around by releasing The Day the World Meets You EP on When We Dip's XYZ.

As a DJ, Emotional Tourist played alongside DJs a Lee Burridge, Gorje Hewek & Izhevski, Lost Desert, Facundo Mohrr, and other well known DJs from the Organic and Progressive House scene.

Emotional Tourist has been firmly in the crosshairs of our scope for some time now, as someone we think is making some of the best deep and melodic sounds around. The Bucharest-bred boy has stepped onto the scene this summer with tracks full of hopes and dreams. 

This is a project about moments and timeline memories we created, easily accessed through a simple chord, or an emotion. Or both. About different notes of happiness and also strings of sadness that we all find ourselves at some point in our existence. The thrill of a first kiss or a last one. The magic of a beautiful sunrise ending a night full of hopes and starting a day full of dreams. Past. Present. Future. Emotional Tourist is the love letter from the artist to the music.

We're launching a new Schirmchendrink chapter today and proudly present our first ever Fresh Download, "Head in a Hoodie", courtesy of Zurich/Lucerne-based electronic music duo Contenance & Miles Away. 

"Head in a Hoodie" has already picked up serious heat with the crowd when played across many venues in Switzerland over the last year. The hype around the track increased when Contenance & Miles Away used it in their delicious Schirmchendrink mix "Espresso Martini" early 2022. The amount of track ID requests around this track became so many that we had to finally release it. 

The story behind "Head in a Hoodie" is one of those lucky incidents: while working on the beat, the two musicians felt that something is missing. Looking for inspiration, the guys ended up looking at random videos on youtube, checking out vocals. Suddenly, Drake and Lil Baby's ‚"Yes Indeed", came up. When they played the vocals to the beat of their track it just made click. 

"We were amazed! It was like the vocals were made for our beat. It matched perfectly. It was just that particular missing piece we were looking for!" says Simon, one half of Contenance & Miles Away. Miro adds: "Being fans of the artists and the original song, there was no doubt that our track has just turned into an edit or rework, although this was never the intention before. We are really happy with the track and we‘re glad that we could combine our love for both hip hop and electronic music in this one."

Well, and we couldn't be happier to premiere our new Series on Fresh Download with this bomb!

Kaudron is a Belgian Producer and DJ who started spinning vinyl in 2005. Today he takes us on a fire ride across his current favorites and most recent own productions!

He looks back at performances in several festivals in Belgium and abroad like Extrema Outdoor, Pukelpop, Vodoo Village, Guendalina Export, Pacha Ibiza on Tour, Cafe d'Anvers or Summerday Festival to name a few and is also the co-founder of Urban Jungle Liège.

His first EP "Dynamite" has been released in November 2016 on Consultune. Kaudran caught our attention with his Afro House release on German imprint Elly Fly, "Walk", which has been released a few months back. More recently he's back on Sharam Jey's label with another stunner EP "Africa", together with Mexico's Aragon & Kobe.

Amr Hachicho - known under his recording alias A.M.R - is an electronic music producer & audio engineer from Qatar. His drink of choice is an Espresso!

Amr began his journey into the world of electronic music during his early teens, experimenting with different styles of dance music in his bedroom studio. Coming from a musically inclined family, music has always played a big part in his life.

Even at a young age, Amr was constantly drawn to electronic music for its captivating and emotive melodies. As A.M.R he made his debut in 2008, publishing his first major single with Enhanced Recordings, gaining him popularity and support from some of the leading Trance DJs and producers from around the world, including Armin van Buuren, Above & Beyond, and Tiësto.

In 2018, A.M.R took on a new challenge and made his first appearance into the Deep & Progressive scene with the EP Orchids, followed by Silver Lining & Pale Blue, released on Monstercat Silk. A unique blend of tones and instruments received exceptional responses, sparking a new path for this artist. Several of A.M.R’s singles are in regular rotation on SiriusXM Chill, including "Fell Out Of Love" with Brandon Mignacca. In 2020 he debuted his first artist album A Place For Everything. A compilation of familiar and fresh sounds full of color, each track taking the listener on a musical experience. Later that year, he produced a guest mix for Above & Beyond's acclaimed "Group Therapy" radio show.

A.M.R continues his pursuit in the realm of electronic music, finding new and innovative ways of reaching his audience, but keeping his signature sound at the core of each track.

We're starting another week with a beautiful mix by Australian DJ OLIIV. Based in Sydney, OLIIV is a DJ best known for her versatile sweeps of melodic and deep grooves. A vessel for the avante-garde, her unique sound is always grounded in authenticity.

A lover of electronic music from a young age, it wasn’t until 2019 that she started the journey as an artist. In a short time, OLIIV’s musical passions have earnt her a residency with Return To Rio, whilst also hosting club nights as label co-founder of The Fan Club Collective. She has curated podcasts that have been featured on international platforms and radio stations, as well as running her own podcast series Fan Club Friends. She is also the Music Director and co-coordinator for Neomenia - a Sydney based boutique festival.

Regularly supporting some of the biggest names in the industry and with some international gigs on the horizon, there is an exciting future ahead for OLIIV.

Martin Waslewski's Breakfast Martini is crackling with energy and includes two of his upcoming tracks on Super Flu's Monaberry and Adriatique’s Siamese Records. 

Listening to Martin Waslewski is like taking a journey that blurs the boundaries of electronic music: with groovy tracks, between house and melodic techno, he tells musical stories without saying a word too much and thus always and immediately hits the nerve of the crowd in his sets. To the point! 

Martin discovered his love for electronic music in 2010 after growing up in hip hop. And so he is now at home with labels such as Bar 25, Get Physical, Stil vor Talent, Monaberry, Exploited Ghetto. But he's also no stranger to the international scene - from New York, Bogota and Ibiza to the Amsterdam Dance Event and Sonar Festival in Barcelona - he's already made a lot of people happy with his music.

Uva de Playa Mojito is a specialty cocktail from the Dominican Republic, the country of origin of Monsanto, todays guest on the show! 

Everything is connected. For DJ/producer MonSanto, his musical journey began at the ripe age of nine years old with his passion for inline skating, which brought him to watch videos of pro-skaters with punk-rock music playing in the background. Intrigued by this new sound of punk-rock, at the age of thirteen he picked up his first guitar and formed a punk rock band Darkmiracle at the age of sixteen which lasted for 8 years.
Fast forward to 2005. MonSanto walked into his very first electronic music event where Frank Lorber was performing. Right then and there, it clicked. MonSanto was inspired to learn how to DJ. He quickly immersed himself into the intimate underground music scene of his hometown Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic.

Thirteen years later, MonSanto is building momentum on his artistic journey with having opened for renowned artists such as Danny Tenaglia and Christian Voldstad. Breaking into the Toronto and Montreal underground scene, MonSanto has performed at music festivals and events such as AIM Music Festival, Husa Sounds and many more. With musical influences such as Hernan Cattaneo, John Digweed, Sasha and Steve Lawler, MonSanto’s deep infectious grooves permeate the dance floor. The energy exchange MonSanto passionately exudes while performing is unparalleled. Captivating the crowd is his superpower.

Production wise, MonSanto is inspired by the soundscapes which surround him, along with infinite creative downloads on the daily. His last EP ‘Padelia’ [Phantom Deck Records, 2020] is a dance floor romance, which reveals a delicious taste of what’s to come in 2022. MonSanto’s sound is exceptionally full of deep, sultry, melodic grooves. Stay tuned for new releases and international gigs on the horizon in 2022.

The Lion's Tail is a classic cocktail stemming from Prohibition. Litos' delicious interpretation combines powerful electronica with nudisco and deep house grooves.

Litos, or Carlos Heredia with his real name, was drawn to djing and mixing while in London back in 2010. As his passion for music continued to thrive, he delved into varying styles and genres to craft his adventure in sound as a musical artist.

In 2011 he ventured off to Berlin and there discovered his zest for instrumental ethereal sounds with hints of electronic. His roots called him back home in 2016 and he’s flourished in the music scene in Tulum, Mexico, where he developed the sound you hear him play today. In 2021, Carlos co-founded the record label Kilómetro 4.5 (Km4.5)

Varying from, House, Deep, Deep House, Indie, Downtempo to Disco, you can catch him in Tulum, Mexico, finding the right balance for both the mellow-groovers and the dance-floor enthusiasts. To music friends and comrades in the industry, he is known as Litos.

'In The Mood' is a deep minimal house gem featuring a melancholic piano melody over a driving beat and lots of groove. The track has everything we love about the "less is more" emphasis of minimalistic electronic music: a gradual and subtle progression of a few crisp sound elements creating a beautifully hypnotic atmosphere. 

Betsu is currently living in Athens, Greece. For the Co-Founder of the ROFD community, music is life. His worldwide search for melodies, unknown sensations and ignored talents, is part of his everyday life. His musical quest is, above all, full of curiosity and passion.

Coming up next is Swiss producer and DJ Leo Leonski. His exclusive set was recorded in Mexico city, Leo's current home base, and named after his drink of choice - the Negroni. Expect an eclectic trip through genres with tons of soul, sexy grooves and including Leo's own tracks and edits and some unreleased material of his. What a funky treat!

Leo, born and raised in Switzerland, then moved to Berlin where he started his musical career between wild disco nights with gigs in small bars and Berlin clubs around the scene.

Always influenced through travels all over the globe his music varies in his sets and productions, dedicated to production own recordings.
The edgy blues riffs, some deep underground club vibes or the disco thrill, you’ll find it.

Later on he moved to Mexico (currently still based there) where he got in touch with more latin and tropical vibes for a bit, and founded his own label in Mexico City, named “Night Heat Records”.

All his latest recording, productions and releases are done by himself and released through his own label.

Man of the people, where you’ll see him touring, he’ll play for the crowd.

He writes music from a technical and personal perspective, crafting each song as a uniquely progressive story being told. Gab Rhome, born in Montréal and living in NYC, milked his favorite cow (what’s her name by the way?) on his farm to ensure today’s Schirmchendrink is full of vitamins, minerals and amino acids. 

Grab a cookie and dip it into Gab’s dreamy and hypnotic vibes. 

He began his musical journey at an early age playing multiple instruments while being shaped by jazz music, and it only took a few years before making a transition towards the rhythms of dance music. 

Only within few years of producing Gab gained worldwide attention with releases on label heavy weights such as All Day I Dream, Anjunadeep, Kindisch, Get Physical and Last night on Earth.  

His delicate melodic tech-house productions have brought him on journeys across the globe, for example to the @radiovenao Gathering in Panama, where this set was recorded. As you are about to experience, a similar voyage is built during his dj sets.

The first cocktail in 2019 is a pure classic. And, it is the national cocktail of Brazil. Since we don’t leave anything to chance we engaged an incredible Brazilian talent to mix a Caipirinha for Schirmchendrink. 

Gabriel Belmudes, a Brazilian DJ and producer, who is originally from São Paulo and currently based in Canada. He has been on the rise with his exquisite sounds over the last years and is spreading his art internationally at renowned venues and festivals. 

He’s in love with touching melodies and groovy tribal beats. You find these hypnotic „jungle vibes“ in all of his sets. Gabriel once said, that these tribal sounds remind him of where he’s coming from. And that you can almost always find people dancing, grooving, or jamming to samba or some kind of drumbeat in Brazil - whether it’s at home, on the streets, or in bars. 

Gabriel’s Caipirinha is full of this lively energy, full of good and catchy vibes. It only takes a few sips and you immediately want to shake off this energy with some moves on a dance floor. 

2018 was the year of Gabriel’s first release on the mighty Sol Selectas label. „Canto de Seraia“ was part of the Summer Sol III sampler. And there might be new releases coming soon as Gabriel is taking some time off to focus on his productions this year.

We are excited to see what 2019 brings for the sonic storyteller and world traveller.

Caipirinha | Gabriel Belmudes

A perfect example of something that is delicious because it is sweet, bitter and sour at the same time is today’s fantastic cocktail by Fejká. His smooth creation for Schirmchendrink is a very desirable sip, and the light sugary melodies but sour and sometimes bitterish melancholy is a flavor that is absolutely lovable!

Based in Stuttgart, Brian Zajak, aka Fejká, began his musical career at the age of 17. Torn between the atmospheric vibe and the calm of ambient music, as well as the state of absolute ecstasy that provokes the powerful beat of techno, Fejká couldn’t decide which direction his music production would take. Thus, he decided to experiment with both.

Drawn to artists such as Christian Löffler, HVOB and Kiasmos, the appeal of his style lies in its varied influences, and ability to harness the best of two contrasting genres. It was Christian Löffler himself who approached him, leading to his Debut EP "Twilight" which was released 2017 on Löffler’s Label Ki Records. 

His highly anticipated Debut Album "Reunion" has just been released, also on Ki Records. It is a hugely expansive record that frequently shifts gears between driving rhythms and endless soundscape. Fejká developed a sound with a rich sense of song-craft & melody alongside his ambient deep-house foundations, and we’re happy to hear one of his album tracks in this mix.

And Mark and Paul even did overtime and delivered a sensational 3 hour journey – Christmas definitely came early this year!

We’re honored having another outstanding artist behind the Schirmchendrink bar counter today: Roy Rosenfeld is mixing his Vodka Soda with a lot of punch: it comes with fresh Lime, sparkling melodies and that mellow but always driving “Roy Rosenfeld groove”:  

Roy is currently residing in Tel-Aviv, the capital of Israeli electronic music, but born and raised in the magical streets of Jerusalem.

A key milestone in his career was a beautiful track name Epika, a co-production together with Guy Mantzur – and it turned out to be one of 2015 biggest anthems.  The success of his signature sound brought him not only on the Schirmchendrink radars, no, but on the release schedule of the crème de la crème of records labels: Guy J’s Lost & Found, Marc Romboy’s Systematic Records, Michael Mayer’s KOPAKT as well as the mighty All Day I Dream – just to name a few. 

In 2019 his career got another epic boost: Apart from returning to All Day I Dream with his Rumbala EP, Roy released what is considered to be one of the greatest anthems of last year, ‘The Biggest Heart’, published on TRYBESof. In addition Roy has released another EP, this time on Sébastien Léger’s new label “Lost Miracle” that includes the A-side ‘Hypnosa De La Rosa’. The B-side ‘Creme’, is his first ever collaboration track with the French maestro. 

2020 seems to continue in the same pace: his upcoming release on Guy Gerber’s Rumors label is opening up with a track that has enormous anthem potential: a hypnotic house track called „no drama“  - but with a lot of drama actually: loose grooves, an exotic and tropical feel, underlined by Roy’s signature bubbly drums. Wow – what a bomb release – we look forward dancing to this throughout the season!

Today’s Bedouin Tea shall take you on a trip through the Egyptian Mountains. Hot Oasis used his favorite desert plants for this special edition and brought his own tea pot – to be enjoyed with sugar!

Hot oasis represents the sound of nature with a strong influence of South Sinai peaceful spirit. His melodic tunes reflect the sound of the oasis and the mystery of the mountains to take the ears to a psychedelic journey.

His style lies somewhere between melodic techno and ethnic downtempo and has been showcased on imprints such as Stil Vor Talent, Click Records, Art Vibes Music, Buddha Bar, Lump Records, Sol Selectas, Pipe & Pochet, Souq Records, Sweet Musique and more. 

His latest release named “Ophera” is out on the latest VA of A Tribe Called Kotori, the spiritual Stil vor Talent spin-off franchise by Oliver Koletzki.

This weeks special is a ride between deep house and deep tech, and, if you listen closely, you'll notice some Detroit and Chicago house influence. Yulia Niko's Mezcalita is an awesome groover that gets you started the right way on this monday!

Quickly falling under the spell of House music, Yulia learned to DJ at the age of 15 and was soon a resident in Sochi, Russia, close to where she grew up. After getting her Law degree, Yulia relocated first to Greece, then New York, where she wrote two albums worth of material which ended up getting her signed to a number of labels. Her break out track, ‘Zurich’, was snapped up by Get Physical to widespread acclaim. No wonder she received a coveted ‘One to Watch’ from Mixmag the same year.

In Berlin, where she currently lives, Yulia refocused her attention and wrote another brace of tracks, two of which were picked up by Damien Lazarus’ Rebellion imprint. Now signed to some impressive top-tier labels, Yulia’s studio craft was being recognised by an ever-growing army of high profile admirers including Dennis Ferrer, Jamie Jones, Lee Foss, and many others who were playing and charting her music.

Besides her incredible DJ and studio skills, Yulia has impressive business acumen. Setting up her first record label, TochnoTechno back in 2016 showed the tougher end of her musical palette and helped her understand the logistics of the business. With Libe Vibe, she is delivering her second label project, supporting young artists. It explores the relationship between the vibe and energy, a sonic experimentation that will bring new and old sounds together collectively. 

Her latest release, Manifesto EP, is out today on Watergate Records. It comes with three original releases and remixes by YokoO and/or Francesco Mami. Our favorite is the original of "Passion", a percussion-heavy groover with hypnotic vocals. It's our lucky day, Yulia used it in her sensational Mezcalita!

Marsh soars into the new decade riding a meteor. Backed by the likes of Joris Voorn, Kölsch, Rufus Du Sol, along with Pete Tong, Danny Howard and Phil Taggart at BBC Radio 1, Marsh continues to tell his story of healing and inner peace through his music. His varied remix list including Armin van Buuren, Above & Beyond and Luttrell forms a smidgen of his vivid catalog of over 40 releases. 

On the live side, Marsh has performed at esteemed venues on both sides of the Atlantic, including Printworks London, The Brooklyn Mirage and The Gorge, Washington. Commonly lost to vibes and emotions behind the decks, Marsh is equally at home sharing the bill with legends like Sasha & Digweed and Guy J. 

2020 highlights include the highly-anticipated ‘Eu Topos EP’, collaborations with Spencer Brown and Nox Vahn and the ‘Lost In You EP’, as well as his sophomore artist album on Anjunadeep named "Lailonie".
