Paniyolo, whom released many guitar albums from Schole Records, is releasing an duo name album with a vocalist Miho Ota, who has been active in music scene using her own unique singing style, such as collaborating with Norwegian traditional music “Joik”, and founded a female choir group “CANTUS” to tell the beauty of church music which Japanese are not familiar with.

On the sunny day of May 2021, in the woods located 1000m above sea level of Nagano Prefecture, the music was recorded with the birds chirping in between the songs.

Ota’s singing characteristic is known as her powerful and straight tone voice, but she sealed using this method in this album.  She purposely controlled her voice to mp (mezzo piano) and sung calmly and closely with Paniyolo’s guitar.

Most of the songs were composed by exchanging mails, Paniyolo sends the guitar riff and Ota responds by adding the vocal to it.

In this conceptual album, listeners will feel the solid emotions overflowing in our daily life from these quiet and calm music pieces.

Schole Records から多くのギター作品を発表しているPaniyoloが、日本では馴染みのない教会音楽の美しさを伝えるべく聖歌隊「CANTUS」を発足したり、ノルウェーの伝統音楽「ヨイク」とコラボレーションするなど、独自のスタイルで音楽活動を貫くボーカリスト太田美帆とのダブルネームアルバムをリリースします。

2021年5月のある晴れた日、長野県にある標高1000mの森の中で録音された本作の曲間では野鳥が楽しげにさえずっています。
力強くストレートに歌いあげる歌唱が特徴の太田ですが、今作ではその手法を封印しました。意図的にmp(メゾピアノ)程度に音量を抑え、Paniyoloのギターに寄り添い歌っています。
曲の殆どはPaniyoloがギターリフをメールで送り、太田がそれにヴォカリーズを付け送り返すという往復書簡のような作業で進められました。
静かで優しい音楽の中にも、日々の暮らしから零れる確かな思いを感じる事のできる、芯のある作品となりました。

録音およびマスタリングは Flysound 福岡功訓、写真は表萌々花、アートワークは SCHOLE の菊地慎が担当しています。

Paniyolo - パニヨロ

A solo project of a guitarist Muneki Takasaka.
Born in 1982, from Fukushima, Japan.
In December 2006, paniyolo stared his music career from a performance in Shimokitazawa.
Several acoustic guitar albums released from the music label Schole Records.
“Tama no Koto” featuring a guitarist Hirofumi Nakamura (tricolor, John John Festival), “Sora Mo Sukoshi” featuring a steel pan player Akio Watanabe (WAIWAI STEEL BAND), etc.
After 2020, he has been releasing music from digital platform, including collaboration music.
He plays a guitar by valuing the silence in between sounds.
In January 2022,“Sora To Hana” a collaboration album with Miho Ota be released.


ギタリスト高坂宗輝のソロプロジェクト。
82年福島県出身。06年12月、下北沢でのライブからPaniyoloの活動を開始。
音楽レーベル Schole Records から、アコースティックギターアルバムを複数発表。

Japanese actress Yukino Kishii and Minami Hamabe will co-star in the feature film "One Day, You Will Reach The Sea" directed by Ryutaro Nakagawa, the original motion picture soundtrack album will be released in April 1st. The original score composed and produced by Akira Kosemura, as known as American TV series "Love Is___" collaborated with Mara Brock Akil, British feature film "RUDY" directed Shona Auerbach, Cannes 2020 feature film "True Mothers" directed by Naomi Kawase and the short documentary film "THE CENTER LANE" directed by Hirokazu Kore-eda (Palme d’Or winning Japanese director). Also, the soundtrack album is including the some additional music by Hisaki Kato. The film based on the novel of Maru Ayase, depicts Mana (Yukino)'s journey to find the best friend Sumire (Minami) who has suddenly disappeared. Mana is unable to her missing and start looking for her to Miyagi where is the last place Mana was, at the date of the earthquake disaster. As we move from loss to rebirth, the poetic, visionary and subtle music scattered throughout the story echoes deeply, sometimes lyrically or as if it were close to the depths of our hearts.

Born in Tokyo in 1985, Japanese composer Akira Kosemura (he/him) debuted his first solo album, “It’s On Everything”, on an Australian label in 2007 while he was still in school. That same year, he founded his own label, Schole Records, and garnered good reviews by releasing various albums of crossover genre music featuring the sounds of piano, strings, winds, synthesizers, and field recordings.
Akira has composed music for film, stage, game and commercials, including the Cannes 2020 feature film True Mothers (Asa Ga Kuru) directed by Naomi Kawase, the OWN series Love Is__ produced by Mara Brock Akil, Nintendo Switch game JACKJEANNE produced by Sui Ishida, TBS series Chugakusei Nikki, a contemporary ballet piece MANON choreographed by Kimiho Hulbert, and Japan Pavilion in Milano EXPO. Also the Amazon original movie Jonas Brothers Chasing Happiness and Golden Lion winning French director Audrey Diwan’s debut feature film Mais vous êtes fous (Losing It) used Akira’s catalogue. Fragmentos is his debut solo album and for Julian it is his first real personal statement as an artist. The compositions on fragmentos were born from the fascination for the piano as an instrument and also as a way of feeling music, landscapes and sonorities. Recreates moments and parts of life, makes us immerse in the deepest and be able to come to light.

Julian Tenembaum born 06/06/1994 is an Argentine Composer, Pianist and Producer.

He had an early introduction to music, learning the piano throughout his childhood. It was through this that Julian began to immerse himself in the styles of classical pianists from previous generations as well as the music of contemporary composers, before forging his own musical path through composition.
He has made the original music for the series Historias Migrantes (2019) directed by Mariano Pozzi, winning the best original music in 2020 at the British web Awards.
During 2020 he made the original music for the performance piece UNDER that had the support of the National Theater Institute. Collective work (Amsterdam- Buenos Aires) under the creation and direction of Melisa Zulberti and Lucia Fernandez Santoro.
In the course of 2021, he created the original music for the performance installation The Continuity of the Bodies, directed by Melisa Zulberti, exhibited at the San Martín Cultural Center, selected for the 2022 Biennial of Young Art, scenic creators.
He is currently releasing his first solo album called "Fragmentos" with Akira Kosemura's Japanese label "Schole Records" and Warner Chappell Argentina.

Akira Kosemura - Looking In The Same Direction

A guitarist Paniyolo and a steelpan player Akio Watanabe are releasing a duo album “Yanami (The row of houses)”.

Based on the 11 sketches, they have painted a space kept in tranquil atmosphere with a guitar and a steelpan, each sketch has a glimpse of subject what could be found as you spent more time at home.  Focused on the familiar daily life environment that we have overlooked, each piece of music is written with margins and lingering sound.

This album is released for the first time in four years, since their release of previous album “Sora Mo Sukoshi”, and both artist attempted to record from their own private studio.  As words reflects the emotional movements, each musical notes from the sound of Paniyolo and Akio Watanabe can be felt from this album.  They have created a music that breathes, based on the consistent concept, from the separated spaces.

A solo project by a guitarist Muneki Takasaka.  Born 1982, from Fukushima, Japan.In December 2006, Paniyolo started his music career from the gigs in Shimokitazawa.  He have released some guitar albums from the music label SCHOLE.

He is a multi-instrumentalist who plays a steelpan, a guitar and an ukulele.During his working years he met the steelpan, then joined WAIWAI STEEL BAND in 2009.From January to March 2017, he travelled to Trinidad and Tobago where the instrument was originated, then joined the historic Starlift Steel Orchestra and participated in a competition.He became the first Japanese to perform in the front line of the steelpan band of 120 members.
In may 2018, he self-releases a first solo album “in my room”
In 2019 autumn, release a duo album “Sora Mo Sukoshi” featuring paniyolo (Guitarist) He is also actively involved in joint productions, most notably the Lo-Fi Project with n’sawa-saraca , where he fuses keyboards and steelpan to create a floating, cosmic sound over Lo-Fi beats, creating aunique world of his own.With his cheerful personality and gentle music, he spares no effort to give supports to music productions and live performances.

Pianist Itoko Toma will release a solo piano album.
In the summer of 2023, the album was recorded at the studio library “SALO” located in Oiso, Kanagawa, Japan.  A collection of piano works composed by her fingers, guided by the tone of an upright piano meticulously tuned by a piano tuner.

This collection of composed piano pieces were inspired by the works of Shin Kikuchi, Schole Records art director, exhibited at SALO during the recording period.  It has an image concept of one walking along the path in the deep mountain surrounded by fog and imagining an invisible landscape as one surrenders to the silence.
The sound of the piano were made even softer by the felt work, which helps to expand a tranquil soundscape, as if flower petals or fresh white snow gently falling.
Please enjoy listening as an accompaniment to a relaxing moment, as if lighting a lamp or enjoying a fragrance.

Released on 6th June 2016, five years after his previous album, a new album “MOMENTARY: Memories of the Beginning” featuring Nagi Yanagi and Devendra Banhart has attracted many music listeners as one can swim freely across the ocean of pops composed by Akira.  After three months later, on 9th September, he have released another album “One Day”, a recording of him playing an old piano improvisationally at his parent’s home has amazed many fans.

“Our Own Picture”, is the last release from the label for the year 2016, includes few tracks composed with his feeling about this few years’ changing environment.  “You” is a song dedicated for his new born boy and his wife, “Out of the Solitary Mind” is a reflection of the changes in his feeling from his solitary time to his time sharing with a family, and a solo piano version of “Joy” which was originally release in 2013, will end this album with the melody of happiness.  It’s a collection of heartwarming piano sketches.

Akira Kosemura’s “Someday”, featuring Devendra Banhart as a guest vocalist, will be digitally released as limited edition EP.
In this EP includes “Someday (Reworked 2017)”, a reworked version produced by Akira Kosemura, is filled with a mystical atmosphere and floating feeling, “Sphere” is a polyphonic ensemble track played with synthesizer and electric piano, “Stillness of the Holy Place” is a piano solo improvisation music which is live recorded at church, and “Someday (Original version).  Listeners can sense the variations in Akira Kosemura’s music through these pieces of music.

Itoko Toma, a Pianist and vocalist, releases her second album.
Besides her piano solo works and original songs as same music style as her previous album, but also includes songs composed with chamber music style, which brings more taste in this album.
This album is created with many inspirations from ‘sea’ which she felt in her daily life.  It begins with the song “shorebird”, which you will hear a gentle voice brings a bird floating on the sea wind.  Also, a supporting piano will draw a flow of waves created with arpeggio sounds of moving from lower tones to higher tones.  With this gently played piano without any intonation will show the image very clearly of the waves flowing.  Her dreamy and feathery world is expressed in the track “fantasia”, the strings arrangements will widens up the view, and the motif played with piano brings the light as a sea splash.  “horse from parallel”, a key track of this album, features a vocal as a major role of this song and a simple chord progression helps the enhancement of melodious sounds.  “when the word and the heart will mix well”, an adagio-like composition, is wrapped with heartwarming atmosphere with the daintiness and delicate strings arrangements.  The album ends with a gentleness tune of “cantabile”, with a singing of freely played piano, which echoes deeply to bring peacefulness.

For strings arrangement, track #3 done by Akira Kosemura, who is also a producer of this album, and track #9 done by Quentin Sirjacq, a French pianist and composer, who released his album under the same label SCHOLE.  Also, Hiroshi Iguchi as a sound engineer who supports the previous releases of Akira and Quentin, and Shin Kikuchi creates MV and designed for album covers using the visuals taken from her hometown, Okayama.  The album was produced by viewing Itoko Toma’s world through a SCHOLE filter.

Itoko Toma, a Pianist and vocalist, releases her second album.
Besides her piano solo works and original songs as same music style as her previous album, but also includes songs composed with chamber music style, which brings more taste in this album.
This album is created with many inspirations from ‘sea’ which she felt in her daily life. It begins with the song “shorebird”, which you will hear a gentle voice brings a bird floating on the sea wind. Also, a supporting piano will draw a flow of waves created with arpeggio sounds of moving from lower tones to higher tones. With this gently played piano without any intonation will show the image very clearly of the waves flowing. Her dreamy and feathery world is expressed in the track “fantasia”, the strings arrangements will widens up the view, and the motif played with piano brings the light as a sea splash. “horse from parallel”, a key track of this album, features a vocal as a major role of this song and a simple chord progression helps the enhancement of melodious sounds. “when the word and the heart will mix well”, an adagio-like composition, is wrapped with heartwarming atmosphere with the daintiness and delicate strings arrangements. The album ends with a gentleness tune of “cantabile”, with a singing of freely played piano, which echoes deeply to bring peacefulness.

For strings arrangement, track #3 done by Akira Kosemura, who is also a producer of this album, and track #9 done by Quentin Sirjacq, a French pianist and composer, who released his album under the same label SCHOLE. Also, Hiroshi Iguchi as a sound engineer who supports the previous releases of Akira and Quentin, and Shin Kikuchi creates MV and designed for album covers using the visuals taken from her hometown, Okayama. The album was produced by viewing Itoko Toma’s world through a SCHOLE filter.

Emerging from the then developing electronica scene of Kuala Lumpur back in 2007, musician flica has since released a commendable body of work which had garnered the interest of listeners from outside the insular scene. Debut album Windwane & Window is capricious, twee electronica, one that gained him recognition outside of the country and resulted in the release of sophomore Nocturnal via Tokyo label Schole Records. By third album Telepathy Dreams, flica has shed the saccharine sentimentality of his previous two records in favour of sombre atmospherics – effectively making him a mainstay in the ambient scene.
 
With 2015’s Weekendary, flica’s music returns to the romanticism that underscored his earlier releases, but with the added flair of moody ambience that characterised its predecessor. It was during the tour in China and Japan that his sonic journey continued; collaborating with bassist Kent Lee, flica applied improvisational live looping in his performances that then helped him develop a new direction to sounds and ideas.
 
Presently, flica is intent on revealing to the world the culmination of his musical evolution through forthcoming fifth album sub:side. Also fittingly marking his 10th anniversary as an artiste, the album favours a more lo-fi and minimal approach to ambient that seamlessly mixed the oriental with the experimental without sounding overwrought. The decade’s worth of experience has taught flica how to best convey melancholy – with simplicity.

'In Moonlight, Op. 1 & 2', the series take you to the quiet place, put yourself in the moonlight, a moonbeam breaks then shakes the shadow of you. 'Minerva', bearing the name of Roman mythical goddess Minerva, it makes you symbolize a wise and beautiful woman. 'Trace', we can image the feeling of her who stands the branch point of life, her past and future. This album shows us the various expressions however, there are the fragile beauty and close protective calmness of all songs, and it's everything you expect from Akira Kosemura.

Born in Tokyo in 1985, Japanese composer Akira Kosemura debuted his first solo album, “It’s On Everything”, on an Australian label in 2007 while he was still in school. That same year, he founded his own label, Schole Records, and garnered good reviews by releasing various albums of crossover genre music featuring the sounds of piano, strings, winds, synthesizers, and field recordings. Akira has composed music for film, stage, and commercials, including the OWN series Love Is__ produced by Mara Brock Akil, TBS series Chugakusei Nikki, a contemporary ballet piece MANON choreographed by Kimiho Hulbert, and Japan Pavilion in Milano EXPO. In recent years, he has worked collaboratively with international brands such as TAKAHIROMIYASHITATheSoloist. MAISON DE REEFUR, Nikon, Rado, IKEA and KINFOLK. Also Akira featured Devendra Banhart on a single titled Someday. His works have received high acclaim from media outlets around the world, including Pitchfork in the US.

平成３０年夏、日本で大規模災害が度々発生し、各地に甚大な被害をもたらしました。
被災された皆様に謹んでお見舞い申し上げます。

これらの災害を受けて、SCHOLEとして可能な限り長期的で継続的な支援活動ができればという思いから本プロジェクトを立ち上げました。
SCHOLEと繋がりのある素晴らしい音楽家達による、本プロジェクトのための書き下ろし楽曲をデジタル配信いたします。復興の助けになればと作られた魅力的な楽曲群をお楽しみ頂くことができます。
音楽を必要とする全ての方に音楽を届けていくこと、また本プロジェクトが、日本だけではなく世界中で発生する自然災害の被災地のために、今できることを考えるきっかけになればと思っています。音楽の力を借りることで、希望の輪を皆様と作っていけたら本望です。今回の企画に賛同し、音楽を提供して下さる全ての音楽家の皆様に感謝致します。

皆様にお聞き頂くことにより集まる収益から制作費を除いた全額を、被災地復興の支援のための義援金として、日本赤十字社ならびに、復興活動をしている団体にお渡しさせて頂きます。３ヶ月に一度、弊社経理にて金額を集計し、送金させて頂きます。

About SCHOLE HOPE PROJECT 2(Relief project for Western Japan rain disaster in July 2018 and Hokkaido Eastern Iburi Earthquake 2018.)


On the summer of 2018, large-scale disasters frequently occurred in Japan, which left a great damage to various places. We would like to express our heartfelt sympathy to all the victims of these natural disasters.
 
SCHOLE launched this project from the spirit of continuous and long-term support for the recovery from these disasters.

Wonderful musicians from our SCHOLE label and friends composed music especially for this project, and they will be digitally released. We hope listeners will enjoy these beautiful musical pieces to help support the steps toward a recovery.

Hope this project gives an opportunity to think what we can do now for the areas affected by natural disaster, not only in Japan but throughout the world, from listening to music we deliver. We appreciate to all the musicians/artists whom contributed music to support this project, and the label wishes to construct the circle of hope through the power of music.

By listening to the music, all the profit (excluding the cost of production) will be sent as donation to Japan Red Cross Society and disaster recovery organizations. Our label accountant will calculate the amount and transfer the money every once in three month.

Akira Kosemura scored American TV series "Love Is __" which premiered on OWN: Oprah Winfrey Network in 2018.
This is the original television soundtrack album under exclusive license to Warner Bros. Entertainment Inc.
Michele Weaver and Will Catlett star in OWN’s new romantic drama Love Is___, from award-winning producers Mara Brock Akil (Girlfriends, Being Mary Jane, The Game) and Salim Akil (Black Lightning). Set primarily in 1990s Los Angeles against the backdrop of Black Hollywood, Love Is___ follows Nuri (Michele Weaver) and Yasir (Will Catlett), a couple from seemingly opposite worlds, as they chase their dreams and learn to follow their hearts. Told from the perspective of the couple’s present-day selves, the romantic drama also revisits the social issues and vibrant black culture of that time reflecting on how it all aligned to shape the couple they have become nearly 20 years later—a power couple navigating a complex set of social codes while also balancing successful careers and a beautiful family.
Drawing inspiration from creators Mara Brock Akil and Salim Akil’s own relationship journey, the series explores the highs, the lows, and the magic of falling (and staying) in love. 
Mara had been listening Akira's music when she was writing the script, that's why the collaboration is realized.

"A place far north, at a suburb filled with snow.
We randomly followed a trace to the entrance of the lost woods.

While walking, The sound of shoes stepping on the snow,
the spruce branches effectively bear the accumulated snow.
and the air has a slight smell of burning wood.
We walked aimlessly.

In the woods filled with snow, there were no creatures to be trace. They probably on winter sleep?
Hence, we felt lonesome. If a griffin appears, we likely to ride on it and fly, admire the woods from sky-high.

The daytime is almost swallowed by the night, and we have no room to stay.
We both left the entrance to the woods before the night came, and passed-by a frozen lake.
We returned home followed the direction of the small village with warm street lights."

The fourth album by “akisai”, a Sound/Visual project by Yo Suzuki and Koichi Nakaie, will be released.

Suzuki, a sound composer of akisai, he has been actively composing music for other projects without limiting music genres; piano arrangement and performance for soundtrack piano collection of the game “NieR:Automata” released from Square Enix, also the ambient music composition for the theatre piece.  In this album, all his background has reflected in this new album, so it’s not just only an iconic freshening electronica or folktronica sound, but it also includes some music combining these elements with the band music which gives new impression to listeners.  

Although this album consists wide variety of musical elements, it includes the essence of resort music style shown in their previous album “Travelers”.  Also their wonderful arranging and mixing skills leads to put both ambient and band sound together in a well-balanced manner in this latest release.
Following previous album, this new album’s artwork was also produced by Nakaie, who constructs the worldview of akisai with visuals.




鈴木要と中家紘一によるSound/Visualプロジェクト「akisai」の4thアルバムを発表します。
音楽担当の鈴木は、akisaiとしての作品発表と並行してスクウェア・エニックスより発売されたゲーム『ニーア オートマタ』（NieR:Automata）の劇伴音楽のピアノコレクションでピアノアレンジ・演奏を披露したり、舞台への楽曲提供で背景となるようなアンビエント楽曲を制作したりと、自身の制作する楽曲のジャンルを制限することなく活動してきました。そんなバックグラウンドが反映されたかの様な今作は、これまでのakisaiらしい爽やかなエレクトロニカ、フォークトロニカの要素とバンドサウンドの融合に挑戦した印象を受ける楽曲も収録されており、これまでで最もバラエティに富んだ作品になりました。
バラエティには富んではいるものの、全体として前作「Travelers」で見せたリゾート感が要所でアクセントとして加えられ、今作の軸となっているアンビエント楽曲とのバランスを見事にとり、アルバムとしての纏りを感じさせる確かなアレンジ力、ミックスの良さが際立っています。
前作に続きアートワークは中家が制作、akisaiの求める世界観をビジュアル面から構築しています。
