This week's TANK Mix comes from Bitzer Maloney and Schuttle, via Manchester label Bakk Heia Records. A sonorous collection of moody deep house rhythms, the mix was recorded at the White Hotel in Salford as a warmup of sorts for a live audiovisual performance by Steevio & Suzybee. 

When TANK asked the duo about their inspiration for the mix, they responded with the following: 

"The set delves into the slow and chuggy zones of Bitzer and schuttle’s musical tastes, encompassing deep and introspective 303 mellow-outs, opium den jazz, and playful euphoric chug, all below the 100bpm mark."

Messrs Jorg Kuning, Schuttle, Bitzer Maloney and Hercules M hail from Manchester and have been carving out their own niche in the city’s scene over the past few years. In addition to the label, which has released a string of killer records showcasing their brand of slick wonky dance music, they’ve also hosted a bunch of raucous parties at Manchester’s best club, The White Hotel. Their podcast is a 4 way megamix that traverses from space chug to acid steamrollers, and there’s some forthcoming Bakkheia goodies inside too. Get stuck in.

This week we have fellow Northerner @Schuttle helping you ease into another week, providing the warmth, comfort and TLC we know we all need right now.

I have been a big fan of Johnny’s work for a long time and feel blessed he got the time to do this mix for us. He has just released an absolute corker of an EP on his own label @BakkHeiaRecords

He describes the idea behind his mix :

“I didn’t have a particular theme in mind, but listening back with the samples and tracks, it sort of feels like it begins with me reflecting on self esteem stuff, trying to think about not being hard on yourself for your own emotions, activity / motivation or lack of, that sort of thing. Then it gently shifts you away from the headspace stuff into more zoned out, relaxing stuff, maybe thinking about the slowness of life at the minute and just trying to enjoy it, or find some beauty in it, and allow your mind to be clear for a bit and not give way to the negative headspace.That’s at least how I felt after I made it and had a listen through!”
