Swedish free jazz legend Martin Küchen is mostly known for his groups, such as Angles and Exploding Customer as well as for many of his collaborations on the scene. Here for the first time in a classic quartet setting backed up by the great Mathias Landaeus and his trio.

Martin Küchen & Landaeus Trio - Four lamentations and one wicked dream of innocence (album teaser)

This is the closing piece from a solo performance at the 2007 edition of KopaFestival in Malmö, Sweden. 

I remember being quite nervous in front of a discerning audience with every sound being captured by SR P2 (The Swedish national broadcaster) for later transmission. This occasion also marks one of the last times i ever used the soprano saxophone as a solo instrument, also signaling an era of less frequent overall use of the instrument on my part.

'Festival'

Why does an everyday take-off procedure for a Boeing 767 work so well inside an everyday start-up routine from a Roman cathedral, or was it the other way around? Both are "field recordings" made during the same week. I couldn’t have imagined that combination beforehand. The recordings were made intuitively. On the go. In the present. In addition to that there is "the art cat", "seven minutes workout", "embarrassment and confusion in a school class of ten-year-olds visiting a burlesque puppet theatre". And finally, the sound of "steps alien". Ok. That became my contribution to six different sound works that plays simultaneously under the title "Rymdprogrammet Open Studio" (together with Johan Sandström’s interior design), arranged by Molekyl Gallery, Malmö, November 2023.

Rymdprogrammet Open Studio (R.O.S.) is an ongoing collaboration between Johan Sandström and Dan Schyman. It started in 2022 and focuses on the integration of sound, objects and architecture into site- specific installations and events

My wife's mom passed a few weeks ago and Åsa wrote a beautiful text to All The Things You Are as a tribute to her. Here's the English translation.

All That You Are, Mom
Even though you left this life on earth,
