We find ourselves in a distant future where the remaining population of Earth is ruled by a mysterious AI that calls itself EVA. EVA has sent human-piloted research vessels to the farthest reaches of the galaxy to scout for potentially habitable planets and report any findings. These are the Occupants and they're slowly awakening as EVA's grip on their minds erodes.

Dalmata Daniel presents the sixth instalment of their DDS split series, manifesting a relentless torrent of raw, bumping beats and electric thunderbolts: Kraków-based Olivia brings her otherworldly sequences and hazy reverberations, while hailing from Tel Aviv, Rapha delivers acidic treatments and sinister, menacing tones of a dark, untold future.

Side A opens up with ’Freak’, where Olivia’s swirling synth arpeggios quickly aim to enchant all listeners, tangling up their brainwaves with several layers of wicked, throbbing beats. Continuing her witching hour, ‘Odejdź’ introduces off-kilter pulses, cries and whispers in a dungeon, where no one can find the exit. Echoes tremble and screams get distorted in the dark, moist and uncanny aisles of these non-Euclidean spaces. Hyperbolic and demonic, hypnotic and manic: ‘Odejdź’ puts ashes in our eyes and takes us to places we never thought were possible in this bleak realm of our world.

Flip the record, drop the needle and let side B commence: Rapha opens up with ‘Aggressive Disorder’, a hip hop-infused marching beat with cosmic howls and blasting basslines. Next up, as a gargantuan machinery of steam-fueled engines, ‘Bomber Jacket’ takes a confident, industrial maneuver at demonstrating nasty, scattered pieces of percussive grit, simmering its way to a textured and refined amalgam of rough and frantic pulsations. Closing the split release, ‘Access Point’ elevates the voyage to outer space: fresh and squelchy electro patterns kick in right away with sweet, rumbling lower frequencies, and while you may enjoy the interstellar ride with stardust in your eyes, don’t forget to watch out for potential alien screams and growls behind you in the cabin; they should come as no surprise if DDS06 is the OST to your personal, gruesome, galactic adventure.

Inspired by Aldous Huxley's dystopian science fiction novel 'Brave New World', Alva Recek's Soma EP traces its theme of social hierarchy and control... where a world government tries to prevent its people from thinking and speaking freely with the use of a legal drug that is provided daily. To maintain the stability of their forcefully engineered world, authorities encourage the constant consumption of the drug Soma, ensuring the population remains passive and soothed. In the lives of the citizens, if anything should feel wrong, they have Soma to block stressful situations such as pain, grief and anger, and yet the user is completely normal, oblivious to any sort of negative side effects. Soma, supplied in its various strengths, is the perfectly tailored distraction.

The Soma EP outlines characteristics of four hypothetical variations... the softness of the white variety, the moderate dose of yellow, leading to the stronger concentration of orange and finally the ultimate effect of Soma red.

Alva Recek's roots trace back to golden era 80s & 90s hip hop and rave culture, significant backdrops to her progression from a young rapper to a dedicated producer working in numerous genres.
With past collaborations in electronica, jazz fusion and hip hop, and a track recently released on Bass Agenda, Alva comes immersed legit deep in heady electro for this debut EP.
