Biography
The Scientist Sound started in Birmingham in 1979 with Roy P, Nicky Dread, Robbo Dread, John, Section, Bunny, Skipton, Sax, Bogles, Gorgan Brown, Kojack and Flux. In the early 80's there was an alliance with Bushman Warrior Sound who became apart of Scientist Sound with people like Jagi, Ian aka Long Man, Inglan Irie, Ringo, Beaver Militant and Little John (who is now known as Big John 2000 and more) one of the best dancehall selectors around today. Scientist played sounds such as the great Jungle Man, Jah Massegan, Black Roots and many more. A lot of the crew moved on to persue solo careers. Scientist reformed a new crew consisting of Roy P, Nicky Dread, Robbo Dread, Gorgan Brown, Flux, Kojack, Desi Roots, Ruff Han, Scooby Banton, Bond, Little Sess, Captain C and Slata John. This was the dancehall era when King Jammy's was ruling the world. After years of playing again people went their separate ways to persue solo careers for example Slata John went on to become a successful recording artist and has had hits here in the UK and in various other countries and is still recording and tours the world regularly with Basement Jaxx. In the early 90's the Sound decided to have a break due to people having different ideas. We always loved the Roots dances and attended when and where we could, if Jah Shaka was playing anywhere in the UK we would get together and reach if possible. We got to realise it was not just Jah Shaka you also had Abashanti I Sound System, Entebe, Channel One, Iration Steppas and many others, we realised we wanted to be back where we came from. The Core of the Scientist Sound got back together and decided to rebuild and hit the road again. The members now as it stands are Roy P – Manager/Technician, Nicky Dread – Operator/Technician, Robbo Dread – MC/Co-ordinator, Gorgan Brown - Supervisor, Kojack – MC/Selector, Desi Roots – MC/Selector, Spears - Engineer and Little Sess – MC/Singer. Spears is no longer with us but he left us with many good tunes as he is a great producer and musician. Got to BIG UP Prince Jamo and Black Rose projects who sings with us on tour along side Josef Lalibella and Peter Culture 3 the ruffest way all part of the family. John aka IJahman who has been around us from the start taking magnificent pictures and still continues to do so today, Not forgetting CFax an MC of top calibre also got to BIG UP Monarstic Studio, Black Rose Studio, CVM Studio, R.Q.Tek Studio, Studio 14, Fullness Studio, Mind Searchers Studio, Two Kings Records and Roots Injection and all the sound fraternity we love and respect you all.
