A Wish For You

 As the main composer and singer/bassist of one of my live bands, Negative For Francis, (<a href="http://www.myspace.com/n4f" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">www.myspace.com/n4f</a> ) I toured around England and Europe, including support slots for Babyshambles. I gained much experience with a multitude of live instruments and often improvised as part of the set. We released several singles on an independent label: these songs were produced by the legendary Paul Epworth, who was named Producer Of The Year at The BRIT Awards in 2010.
Over the years, my band and solo work has been favourably reviewed and featured in The Guardian Guide, NME and The Times Online to name but a few. I am now making music for my new act, Sciocco (<a href="http://www.myspace.com/scioccomusic" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">www.myspace.com/scioccomusic</a>) and I am making soundtrack-style music for videographers and moviemakers in my new venture, The Nick Malena Soundtrack (<a href="http://www.myspace.com/thenickmalenasoundtrack" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">www.myspace.com/thenickmalenasoundtrack</a> )

Our Thing

Sciocco's melodic music creeps into the listener's brain, bewitches their heart and infects their soul.
Sciocco is singer/songwriter Nicola Malena, who has been making music in many guises for more than 17 years, not least as part of British band Negative For Francis.
The Guardian Guide named their debut record Save Yr Money single of the week. This track and their second release, the double A-side Losing Control/Love Bug, was produced by Paul Epworth and received rave reviews from the likes of Drowned In Sound and Artrocker. The boys supported Babyshambles around the UK and toured Europe, but despite their critical acclaim, they split up in November 2006.
Since then, the band's frontman, bassist and songwriter Nick has been writing and making music on his own under the name Sciocco.
Taking inspiration from influences as diverse as Devo, Nirvana and The Beatles, Nicola enjoys experimenting with a multitude of genres - from pop, dance and electro to folk, blues, ballads and reworked covers. His song Rows was named Track Of The Day by The Times Online.
