Layered with pulsing synth bass, shimmering arpeggios, and a steady disco-inspired groove, the track feels like it was pulled straight out of an ‘80s movie sequence. Offering Recordings‘s upcoming ‘Gratitude (The Remixes)‘ is the first single release taken from  Marie Joly‘s eponymous album. ‘Gratitude‘ sees three exceptional musicians - Marie Joly and South African House icon Black Coffee and Rebbecca Murray  - working together and combine their musicianship to provide us with a beautifully piece of art.

The MYNY remix for ‘Gratitude‘ - already gaining heavy support from Rampa (Keinemusik) in his latest mix [https://soundcloud.com/keinemusik/keinemusik-radioshow-by-rampa-02122016] – has everything in store a tune needs to offer: a percusssive and rhythmical keytone subbed with vocal snippets before a piano smoothly comes in that is supported by slightly more ruff sounding synth-sounds and surrounded by Rebecca Murray‘s tender vocals. Again SOLIDE artist MYNY manages to leave an impression and a track that we surely will hear at BPM-Festival this year.

After a bit of a production hiatus, label bosses, Frank&Tony return to Scissor and Thread with their strongest productions to date with Odes. Representative of their passion for vinyl collecting, the ep is the most dancefloor friendly to date. Leading the charge on A1, Procession takes no time demonstrating the duos keen ability to craft undeniable dancefloor vibes, with a hypnotic percussive groove sure to turn heads. The title track Odes, epitomizes the F&T sound with an early morning nostalgia and a nod to Detroit. B1, This Time, sees a collaboration with label mate and overall luminary, Darand Land, combining the dancefloor drive of the duos sound with the intricate melodies synonymous with Land's inimitable sound. Closing off the ep, Surface Prelude, sees a raw, but deep warehouse atmosphere reminiscent of early 90s house, but with an indelible Frank&Tony touch.

The towering crane looked down over the skyscrapers in motion. The construction looked almost alien like from such great height, a rugged scattering of metal framework, steel beams and concrete. Vertigo had started to kick in as he sat perched atop the city, his tiny cabin did little to offer comfort or security from the pouring rain which battered against the glass window. The raindrops sat laden upon the frame, he watched them drip one by one down the pane. Only a few more hours to go....

Planet E are proud to present ‘AW18 Collection’, a 3 track EP from British producer Tom Flynn due September 14th. Drawing upon a broad and learned musical understanding, ‘AW18 Collection’ fuses disparate strands from the worlds of fashion, club culture and sound design to forge a highly atmospheric, singular release.

‘Packard’, the title of which is inspired by parties in the historic Detroit power plant of the same name, establishes an unrelenting energy from the get go. A bouncing kick lays the foundations for rolling synths, unnerving vocal samples and delicate piano refrains to wander. ‘Anna’ is an indulgent nod to the catwalk, marching with intent amidst immersive chords and subtle melodies.

The B side hosts a trippy cut full of interplanetary glitches and melancholic harmonies. Drawing upon hints to the extraterrestrial, ‘Marx’ creates a dizzying swirl with glistening textures.

Carl Craig was sold straight away: “When Tom sent me his demo of ‘Packard’ I knew I wanted to release it on Planet E. The mix of looped electronics with soul of the piano brought me back to when I first heard the post-Disco classic ‘Beyond the Clouds’. I can imagine the kids on The Scene rockin' hard to this.“

The Sound Of Vast imprint, headed up by Knock and Red Pig Flower has over the years carved out quite the reputation, with an impressive back catalogue featuring material from the likes of Cosmin TRG, Vid/Egal3, Soichi Terada and The Jaydes amongst others. Here though we see San Proper and The Mole make a welcome return to the imprint, this time round joining forces with Hreno for a three track EP from the powerhouse trio.

Leading on the package is ‘Friendly Tears’ which features yet another leading figure in the house scene, Dekmantel regular Tom Trago, as you’d expect from such an impressive array of artists we’re treated so soul drenched house driven by swinging organic drums, infectious funk licks and hooky synth lines before the ‘Chunkless Mix’ strips things back a little, laying focus solely on the 80’s tinged synth work, delayed vocal murmurs and minimalistic percussion.
‘On The Floor’ then rounds out the package, retaining a similar aesthetic with choppy guitar melodies, penetrating bass stabs, crunchy rhythms and resonant arpeggio synths ebbing and flowing dynamically throughout

PREMIERE : San Proper, Hreno & The Mole - Friendly Tears (The Chunkless Mix)

It’s been 5 years since North Lake delivered the ‘Moonwalker’ 12” on Phonica’s main label and it’s telling that to this day it’s one of the most requested for a repress. That’s not to say he’s been idle in the years since then, his releases for Life & Death, Permanent Vacation and Ellum Audio have cemented his reputation as a trusted producer in the world of leftfield Techno.

North Lake is Michigan-based Isaac Delongchamp and his ‘Hearing Voices’ EP features four tracks that illustrate his influences, stretching from classic Detroit Techno to Deep House and even New Age and Ambient. In fact, these four tracks could work as a story, from the opening title track, ‘Hearing Voices’ through two peak-time housers into the after-hours vibe of the final track.

‘Hearing Voices’ is the standout here based on a beautiful looping keyboard melody which subtly grows, progressing and ascending to a deceptive moment of silence before returning to its original melody. Next up ‘Vibing To Your Vibe’ is a perfect combination of organic and electronic elements with little synth details and an 80s Electro vibe adding to the 4/4 groove.

On the flip, the simple but devastatingly effective Omar S-esque ‘Magic Ride’, the EP’s peak energy moment and the logical follow-up to his first Phonica release with Dixon-favourite ‘Marlborol Noir’. Finally, the record comes to an end with ‘Teenage Heartbreak’, a mellow, classy House production that works just as well on the dancefloor as well as home listening.
