2017 sees Dekmantel celebrating its 10th anniversary. A decade ago, the Amsterdam crew threw their first party in the Dutch capital; two years later Dekmantel Records followed. To celebrate this special occasion, the label will release ten EPs over the course of 2017 – every month one, starting in March, with the first EP dropping today - from artists that have shaped them into what they are today. On the bill are, amongst others, Ricardo Villalobos, Motor City Drum Ensemble, Fatima Yamaha, Legowelt, and Tom Trago.

For this series, Dekmantel invited producers who are close to their hearts, have been with them since day one or made a big musical impact on the crew. Amongst these are longtime friends like Juju & Jordash, Palms Trax, Motor City Drum Ensemble, Joy Orbison and Young Marco. Apart from these seasoned names, it’s with great pleasure to have welcome newcomers including Huerco S, Ectomorph, Shanti Celeste, Syracuse and Levon Vincent onboard. Last but certainly not least; a couple of stone cold geniuses will be responsible for a track on the series as well. Amongst them are Can percussionist Burnt Friedman, Donato Dozzy, Tony Allen, The Egyptian Lover and Ricardo Villallobos. 

The second special EP comes from striking electronic artist Call Super—who returns after his 2016 EP on the label—and party starting house star Shanti Celeste who makes her debut after many great EPs on labels like Apron and Secretsundaze. Call Super offers ‘Fluenka Spoke’, a multi layered rack with shimmering synths and pads and glitchy beats down low. Shanti’s ‘Hinoki’ then shows off the producer’s more techno side with a tough and urgent banger that trippy sound design and soul infused chords all urging you to dance.

Francis Harris is a founding member of the Scissor & Thread label - a Brooklyn-based imprint established 2011 as an outlet for deeper, more personal sounds, as well as music from a range of associated artists including black light smoke, Bob Moses, Frank & Tony, DJ Aakmael, Desert Sound Colony and Aris Kindt, to name a few.

Harris’ own output has gone from tightly wound tech house cuts as Adultnapper in the early days, sublime deep house
as Frank & Tony, intricate and expressive musical journeys as evident in his two solo-albums 'Leland' and 'Minutes Of Sleep', and ambient shoegaze with two Aris Kindt albums, co-produced with Gabe Hedrick. Most recently Harris branched out with a new label - Kingdoms - a home for his love of a more adventurous sound.

Now we are proud to present his new solo single, the frst since the release of 'Minutes of Sleep', 'Minor Forms' which includes two remarkable remixes by Valentino Mora.

'More We Cannot Do' is a perfect example of Harris‘ feel for depth and dynamics - a track that feels submerged in a warm amniotic fluid cocooning the listener in a thick subby bassline, providing much of the groove, with skittering percussion on top and intricate fragments of melody throughout leading to a wonderful moment with live vibraphone provided by New York player Will Shore.

'Minor Forms', the EP’s title track is cut from similar cloth - emerging from a subtly distant place to inhabit a melancholic, beautifully evocative space - somewhere between ambient, jazz and the dancefloor. Joining Harris is Greg Paulus on Trumpet, a long time friend and collaborator adding his signature touch to an already moving piece.

Valentino Mora offers up two exquisite reworks of 'Minor Forms' to complete the EP. Mora, the Berlin based Uruguayan producer, brings his own layer of depth to Harris‘ originals - the Underwater Rephrase version adds a propulsive kick and manages to shimmer and shake in subtle unexpected ways providing a purely late night dancefloor take on the original.

The Cosmic Trans Rephrase is somehow even deeper - a bubbling bass pulse anchors the track while pads drift in and out, adding to the blissful, meditative whole.

To celebrate two decades of Skylax Records and a long musical partnership, DJ Sprinkles and Hardrock Striker team up as S.H.E. (SKYLAX HOUSE EXPLOSION) to present the first of three exclusive vinyl releases accompanying the Mix CD for the 20 Years Compilation. All three EPs feature previously unreleased music personally curated by DJ Sprinkles and Hardrock Striker. Under The Garage presents all new music from Move D, Jason Grove & Merwyn Sanders, An Expresso and Signal St as a referential homage to the 80s club of New York City; a space that commercially paved the way for the evolution of dance music (music of the “house”) as well as spaces around which queer communities could feel safe - all to the sounds of DJs like Larry Levan and Frankie Knuckles. Jason Grove is a long-time collaborator with Skylax, along with Signal St who has released on its sub label - Wax Classic - as Garage Shelter, but for Move D, it is his first outing on the imprint. Move D is one of the few veteran deep house DJs still touring consistently having started out in the early nineties. Of course he is synonymous with more than just house music, but when he operates within the boundaries of the genre, the German producer’s sound allies closely with both the Skylax imprint and the DJ Sprinkles record bag; the latter, known to feature many of his tracks including Your Personal Healer making David Moufang’s presence on the compilation all the more relevant. Sharing the A side with Move D and collaborating with Jason Grove is the highly adept Merwyn Sanders from Chicago who, most recently, reissued the in-demand 2000 (And We're Still Here) EP featuring the deep house ear worm, Mimi Likes To Dance. Grove’s slamming-but-smooth style is ever-present as is Merwyn’s taste for sleek production hooks, which can be found throughout Deep in Your Heart. Out of Anaheim in California, An Expresso was signed 5 years ago to Skylax but has already cut his teeth on a few high profile records in house as well as garage and hip hop. His aptly named cut on the compilation, Club Called The Garage opens the mix by DJ Sprinkles, its ghostly reverberated vocal samples are ominously placed as if coming from a place of remembrance (as distinct from nostalgia); moving and dark, especially from a producer so young. The processes of the post-industrial consumer society in which you most likely reside have made the remembrance of small, queer spaces as they pertain to the origin of once-hyper specific genres virtually impossible. We are sold a narrative that relates less to the origins of such marginalised communities and more to what major distributors have decided will sell. It is only through the work of labels like Skylax Records and DJ Sprinkles’ Comatonse Recordings that the origins of house music find their way into the record bags of contemporary DJs. Skylax has a long relationship with DJ Sprinkles and since its early days of Parisonic, has always maintained: Stay Underground, It Pays! One part of three releases, Under The Garage accompanies Under The Loft and Under The Ballroom; three pieces of the SKYLAX HOUSE EXPLOSION 20 Year Compilation.

Occasionally prodigal, but ever-prodigious, Elliot Thomas AKA Etbonz weaves an 80's, early 90’s sci-fi cinema sound into a total recall of scattered memories. Childhood play with Starcom and Gobots. Soaking in cult classics like Robocop, Predator, and Big Trouble in Little China on VHS. DJing in spacey laser-lit rooms draped with sound-dampening curtains. These are the Rockstar fueled productions that Etbonz’ midnight sessions have generated for “Beyond The Cosmic Blaze.” Rounding out this scientific experiment is Grenvision's Trent, who explores psychedelic yet euphoric sonics opening a vortex to the unknown in his rework of "Blue Drink." Together, they embark on a journey trailblazing through the cosmos as they christen our newly-active Bouquet. label with our first LP.

R&S founder Renaat Vandepapeliere returns with his personal RV Trax series showcasing the sounds he plays on the dancefloor.  
Part four carries off where the other volumes have left off with more underground electronica and techno.

Veteran French producer DJ Oil has released for the likes of Blue Note (as part of Troublemakers) and BBE.  ‘Addis’ continues his explorations into sample heavy house with a hint of electro that made his recent ‘Bref Avenir’ album such a joy.

Halosaur is a new alias of Stephane Lefrancois another Frenchman who usually goes by SLF on labels like KMS.  Recording as Halosaur lets him indulge his electronica influences and get serious on his modular synth set up.

Tom Flynn has released  for heavyweight labels like Planet E, Dirtybird and Hypercolour.  ‘Avenue A’ balances deep mechanical rhythms with sophisticated piano motifs.

Healing Noises is up and coming French producer Marianne Novomesky.  Her track ‘Palm Tree’ is  dreamy, stripped down, funked up, sun-baked house.

Berlin-based producer @obliqueincidence returns to the @electrocaine imprint in 2020 with four resounding cuts entitled ‘Sun’ EP. Oblique is a Berlin-based artist framing genre-bending and pulsating soundscapes together with a non- conformist attitude. Drawing influences from his wide cultural background, each release communicates a different take on electronic music. While Oblique’s  Argandiwal (وال ارغنده) release on Mauritius based label electrocaïne in April 2018 touched upon the exploration of a lost heritage through intense and multi-layered soundscapes, his ‘Sun EP’ comes with a more technically focused probe into how some of the previously discovered and now signature elements could be further embodied in the dance format. With the four tracks crossing established genres, Oblique takes elements of house, techno and breakbeat to create his own vision awashed in the bright rays of luminosity that shone through his first record. ‘Sun’ kicks things off with dreamy synth patterns, raw kicks and uplifting euphoria before ‘EZ’ deploys clattering breakbeat styled grooves, emphatic modulations underneath and pulsating melodies that continue to flutter throughout. ‘Form’ lays focus on broken drum patterns, winding oscillations and thick, resonating bass reverberations that carries the track’s energy until ‘Known’ rounds things off by uniting glistening soundscapes and angelic leads smoothly blended with reviving elements within.
