VIVa Music's Detlef is on the first show in 2014. He talks with Dan about his start in electronic music 20 years ago and of course his fairly odd choice of a stage name. Detlef's mix is dense and funk-driven and shows a high amount of skill level.

The first hour of the show is mixed by Moon Harbour Radio host Dan Drastic an features tracks of the Barricades EP from Sable Sheep, which just was released digitally and on vinyl. Dan also plays new tracks by Smalltown Collective, Italoboyz, Chocky or Dario D'attis amongst others.

The latest art:cast, °188, leans toward the latter - an invitation into a world where groove, subtlety, and deep knowledge converge. Guiding us through that world is Dylan Rutledge, better known as Goodtunes97, one of the West Coast’s most respected diggers and selectors.

Dylan doesn’t just play records, he lives them: running the Goodtunes label, curating two recommendable YouTube channels, and circulating rare finds as both a collector and a seller. That broad perspective is etched into the DNA of his art:cast, which digs as deep as his crates do. It’s housey, minimal, and funky, laced with a laid-back Cali attitude that gradually tightens its grip as the mix evolves - building toward clubbier peaks, break-esque turns, and darker notes that give the ride its shape.

The result is simply what a mix should be: a journey of discovery, a shifting play of moods, and a reminder that the right records, in the right hands, can redraw the map of where we thought the night might go.

Slow Hodge; a dedicated digger and DJ originally from Manchester now living in Barcelona, is known for playing eclectic electronica, deriving from almost two decades of fascination within the electronic music sphere. It began in Manchester's drum 'n' bass and dubstep scene in the early 2000's and developed massively through independent house and techno festivals such as Gottwood and his own The Hills Festival.

Nowadays; living in Barcelona, you can find Slow Hodge playing anything from blissful ambient to peak time dancefloor music at festivals, listening bars and clubs across Catalunya. The never-ending quest for sound goes on and on.

In speaking to Defected recently about what fans can expect, Damian says: “Partying has actually become quite safe; you buy your ticket to an event and can pretty much imagine exactly how it will pan out before you walk through the door. I love the idea of creating something where there is an uncertainty; where there is room for the element of surprise... some kind of danger and mystery. I think Day Zero offers these exciting qualities.” The genesis of this was a spiritual experience that followed a conversation with a Shaman on the beach in Tulum where Lazarus raised his hands to the moon and felt the presence of an “electric force field.”
