Here, Scissor And Thread, the Brooklyn imprint headed by Francis Harris and Anthony Collins share JVXTA’s debut album - Euston Blues. 

The album is a collection of moods and textures, from woozy soundscapes like opener No One Needs to Know and Voyager, to grooving, dusty house tracks like Hold On, Water Temple and Lost in Place. 

Tracks develop from ambient textures into leftfield beat excursions (Beyond) and incorporate thoughtful samples such as the spoken word poetry in The Stolen Child.

Elements of free improvisation and experimentation pepper the album, while a strong thread of atmospheric cohesion winds its way through the eight tracks - making Euston Blues a truly rewarding and rich listening experience. 

"Euston Blues synthesises deep chords, classic house rhythms and jazz laden influences to chronicle an intimate journey of physical and psychological isolation." says Charles Field, the man behind the JVXTA project.

The Beat Direct is the second single taken from Black Light Smoke's first full length debut album: Ghosts to be released in June 2023 on Scissor And Thread.

"The Beat Direct exploded naturally upon first he- aring the sample that became the opening loop.", says Jordan Lieb, the producer behind Black Light Smoke. 

"From time to time a track writes itself: I immediately hear the vibe, chords, percussion and bass in one moment. I knew the album needed some more energy so I wanted this one to really build. The 727 percussion sounds are a bit of a through-line for the whole album, so I made sure to feature the congas and bells pretty loud in the mix."

From early years, music and body movement were strongly involved in Silvia's life. Starting with a small record collection in 2013, she began her trajectory as a DJ in Quito, being one of the few women in the scene. Her profound interest in House, Disco, Acid, Breakbeat and Techno has always marked a very determined style in her sets, incorporating different melodies and shades from various decades (especially the 90s). As a DJ, Silvia looks to connect with her listeners in a friendly, interesting and easy way. 

"This set was recorded at home along with my cats, looking to share some of the pieces I’ve been djing lately representing special and energetic moments through dancefloors these past few weeks. I’ve been focusing on storytelling, trying to take listeners through a journey with music. Expect percussive, acid and colourful house notes all around 😊"

This mix was recorded using an Isonoe mixer, 2 Technics MK2 turntables and 2 Nexus 900 Pioneer cdjs.
