Berlin-based storyteller Powel has spoiled us.

He delivers four completely unique records, each knocking through the speakers with fierce percussion, and melodies that glide and fly, carrying the listener off to somewhere else. On each cut, he exhibits his mastery of joyful keys and exquisite drum programming, never missing the opportunity to craft delicious, exciting grooves that are sure to ring out around clubs worldwide.

Ode To A Carrot takes the form of a euphoric dream, set in a warehouse party in the 90s. Powel serves us a fat, squelchy bassline that is unlike anything else we have heard from him before.

On their third release of 2016, Frank & Tony streak back onto the scene with one of their most refined efforts yet, ‘Harmonia’. Toms and effervescent drum patterning gets things started nicely on EP opener, “Seranade”. Swirling pads, alongside a driving two-note bass, lay the groundwork before siren-like synths call out as an incorporeal voice beckons, “bring me all of your dreams, you dreamers.” “Hardrian” takes the tempo down, but ramps up the filth, conjuring dark, basement rave vibes with its propelling bass line and cavernous pads. Shuffling hi-hats and billowing synths flitter in and out of focus making this one of the duo’s most hypnotic and psychedelic affairs to date. The title cut takes things out from the sweat box and into open-air, sun-drenched euphoria. Airy pads and a buoyant bass carry the track effortlessly, and the simple, yet incredibly effective, drum patterning further lightens the tone giving everything the feeling of dancing in a cloud. Slowly, siren-like synths call out, entrancing the listener into eyes-closed revery. The EP closes on an even higher note as the duo take on John Beltran’s classic “Gutaris Breeze (6000km to Amsterdam)” from his 1996 album, ‘Ten Days of Blue’. The boys left the original mostly untouched, only bringing forth the track’s softer elements to the forefront and adding a monstrously driving kick next to a serpentine bass line, transforming the track into a peak-time powerhouse.

“Live Cuts” is a series of tracks we have been playing as part of our live set for the past couple of years.
These tracks were made exclusively to be played live. Since we started touring in 2012, we’ve always considered a live set as a work-in-progress, something in permanent motion, made "for the moment”, right there, right then. Each night is different and every gig takes us into unexpected directions. We always run away from the idea of making our live set just another “playlist” of the tracks that we officially released only to please the crowd. We wanted to take the risk to create something new and embark with people on a musical journey that was made just for them, just for that moment.

All throughout December, we’ve decided to share those exclusive tracks with you. As their name suggests, these are “Live Cuts”, they are unmastered and unreleased, recorded live. They might sound rough or undone but our live set remains an unfinished story ;)

The crowds began to gather outside the bright red and yellow tent as the last light of the summer evening began to fade. The vast big top would soon be packed to the rafters with a vigorous crowd of onlookers looking to celebrate the intricacy and delight of the circus. In the wings the performers sat nervously, they had been preparing their performances for what had felt like an eternity. Soon it would all be over in the blink of an eye and this night too would be gone. 

Maria Rita has been a somewhat unusual presence in the sets of many this year. This is in no small part due to the commitment and genre defying exploration of Glasgow's Optimo. The "Brasileira" LP was reissued earlier this year in collaboration with Selva Discos, now both labels have teamed up once again to offer a beautiful remix package.

@MireiaRec celebrate their tenth release “ZEHN” with a split EP by Amsterdam’s @Pin-Up-Club and Berlin's Conga Fever. The two originals are accompanied by remixes by Lauer, Jacob Korn and RSS Disco.

Pin Up Club’s “Dilapidated” is a true synth-workout with hard-hitting claps.

@RSS Disco channel the track into a psychedelic journey with a distinctive Italo feeling.  A frayed lead melody interwoven with moist Oberheim chords and backed up by old-schoolish drums and a classic arpeggiated Juno Bassline ignite neon lights and incense at the same time.

Being seasoned DJs that know how to read a crowd, RSS Disco seem to feel at home in a broad variety of terrains: Be it their remix of indie/lofi sleeper hit “In Dreams” by Tomemitsu or vintage indian upbeat psychfunk with Rupa’s “Aaj Shanibar”. Their remix of “Dilapidated” is no exception in a string of quality music.

“ZEHN” is a diverse and worthwhile entry into Mireia Record’s catalogue, feeling right at home with their back catalogue of always interesting serious/not so serious dance music with a melancholic twist.

Ly Sander Releases "Lay Down" Featuring Berlin Based Singer Jules Etienne. This Deep And Poetic Tune Is The First Extract From His To Be  Released Album On "Special Place Recordings".
When Jules Etienne provided these dazzling vocals, Ly Sander knew they deserved the song to be built around them. The poetry and dreamy emotions of the lyrics fully embrace us with this slow tempo in-cantation. Ripperton brought his own magic by bringing the track back up to club speed.
"I had invited Berlin based Jules Etienne to record some lyrics to a preexisting uptempo instrumental" explains Ly Sander. When I witnessed their deep and intricated poetry, I decided to build a whole song from scratch». The result is Lay Down, Ly Sander’s first track not to bear any link with his previous efforts that focused on danceable music. It’s ultra low tempo is somewhat intriguing. «I clearly had my album in mind upon producing this track. "A track that you will enjoy at home rather than in the club" says Ly Sander who’s album "Landing" is to be released next year on Special place recordings.
Ripperton is certainly one of the most thought after electronic music remixers, with over a hundred reworks to his credit for artists such as Radiohead, Laurent Garnier or Beanfield. When Ripperton heard Jules Etienne’s impeccable vocals, not only did he accept this remix duty but took over his holiday time to do so. «It is so rare to get to work on vocals where everything falls right into place» says Ripperton. "I really took time to take this track where I wanted it to be". Ripperton also chose to match the vocals to an instrumental at the original speed of 120bpm, making it fit for the dancefloor where it could well become a new favorite.
