<p>&#8220;Escapism&#8221; consists of constant old-school overtones, interpreted via modern instrumentation and that&#8217;s the first thing that comes right at you when you hear the familiar piano chords over the quirky rhythm section. A living, breathing bassline mimics the melody while hovering pads and a commanding, spoken word vocal all blend together to complete the affair.<br />
 As expected, dusbpeeka&#8217;s remix opts for a more sparse approach with claps piercing the thick atmosphere created by the spacious effects. The low-frequency rumble serves as fuel for this chugger as persistent hi hats and manipulated elements from the original all fall into place.</p>

Spacey, atmospheric melodies move through us when interacting with this compilation. Industrial pulsing basslines and dramatic synths overwhelm the senses and ignite a desire to move and be free. Ron Costa made a first label appearance back in 2013 with the dark groove and twisted vocals of ‘Berlidof’. The following year he was back, turning his remix talents to Paul Ritch’s ‘Pulse’. Today the Frenchman makes a welcome return with a brand new double-header - Goose / Erussel. 

Having had a global audience Dancin’ for the past twelve months Costa flies solo once again. Fresh from his excellent remix of Pig&Dan he delivers another brace of gripping techno tracks for SCI+TEC. 

The hypnotic Goose presents an almost asphyxiating groove that tightens throughout. One for the strobe-lit rooms, no doubt. Erussel on the flip is a different animal altogether. With its spacious beats and epic radiant rise, its a track that will have the dancer reaching for the celestial sphere.

Following on from his well-received ‘Impermanence’ EP in 2015, Sidney Charles makes a welcome return to the Truesoul fold. 

It may be a surprise to learn Sidney Charles only produced his first record in 2011; indeed, the Hamburg-born, London-based artist has crafted some of the most sophisticated and effective productions spanning the house and techno genre in recent years, taking inspiration from the rough jacking sounds of the early ‘90s. 

His first release on Truesoul in three years sees him in typically inspired form with a versatile four-track package. ‘Jack Endlessly’ builds layer upon layer of groove-ridden beats and ravey stabs that lead into an exaggerated build up, all deftly complimented by a suggestive vocal sample. ‘R.E.D.’ contrasts excellently, a dirty bass-driven cut with shades of Chicago, that makes its mark courtesy of a rousing soulful vocal. ‘Unchained’ sounds as though it was forged in a knives factory, as expertly programmed drums rub shoulders with deep twisted subterranean stabs for a pin-sharp finish. ‘‘Molec’ closes out the EP as a shimmering end-of-night melodic gem that reinforces the German’s versatility and thoughtfulness as a producer.
