Alex G - Talking

"The House of the Rising Sun" is an American traditional folk song. It's earlier version was called "Rising Sun Blues", which was in major key and 3/4 time signature. The song was first collected in Appalachia in the 1930s, but probably has its roots in traditional English folk song. 
The most successful commercial version, recorded in 1964 by the English rock band The Animals, was in minor key and 12/8 with a bit different lyrics and melody. 
In our version the lyrics are mostly from the earlier versions, but in minor 12/8 and melody as in Animal's version. Olavi Lähteinen sings and I play the guitars. I produced this at my home with Band in a Box and Reaper.
Laulu on alkujaan kansanlaulu USA:sta, mutta lienee kulkeutunut Englannista. Sen aikaisempi versio nimeltään "Rising Sun Blues" on  duurissa ja 3/4-tahtilajissa.
Suurimman hitin tästä sai englantilainen The Animals vuonna 1964. Heidän versionsa on mollissa ja 12/8-tahtilajissa sekä sanoitukseltaan ja melodialtaan erilainen.
Versiomme noudattaa pääasiassa varhaisempien sanoitusta, mutta muutoin Animalsien versiota. Olavi Lähteinen laulaa ja itse soitan kitaroita. Tuotin tämän kotonani Band in a Boxilla ja Reaperilla.
