“Everyone, have you ever heard of ‘the weather of the heart’? It’s a way to compare your feelings to the weather. For example, when you’re happy it’s sunny, and when you’re a little down it’s cloudy.”

Haruto and Kanon looked at each other.
“The weather of the heart… sounds interesting!”
“Just plain weather would be boring. Let’s make it into a picture that feels like us,” Kanon said with a small smile.

“That’s right… Today, as pairs, you’ll talk about each other’s heart-weather and turn it into one picture. Because you’re in pairs, you’ll notice things you wouldn’t otherwise. Enjoy painting together.”

“What’s your heart-weather, Haruto?” Kanon asked. Haruto answered shyly.
“Sunny, I guess… but more like sunny with a breeze. I’m excited because my test preparation is going well.”

“Sunny with a breeze… I see. So what kind of breeze is it?” Kanon asked further. Haruto’s eyes sparkled as he replied.
“The breeze feels like hope! The sky is wide open, and it feels like I could go far, free and light.”

“Nice, a breeze of freedom. As for me, my heart-weather is somewhere between sunny and cloudy.”

“Why cloudy?” Haruto tilted his head.

“Well… I have a lot to do right now, so I feel a bit pressured. But through the gaps in the clouds, I can see the sun. I believe if I try hard, it will clear up.”

Haruto nodded. “That’s really good. Our picture should be sunny and cloudy, with a breeze blowing between them.”

The two picked up their brushes and faced the canvas. Haruto boldly spread blue across the sky and added soft white clouds. Kanon shaded the clouds slightly, creating a warm, gentle cloudy sky.

“Maybe I made it too dark?” Kanon murmured. Haruto laughed. “No, that makes it real. The clouds make the sunshine stand out.”

Then Haruto began painting the breeze. Mixing blue and white, he drew flowing lines that showed the wind pushing the clouds aside, letting the sun peek through.

“This looks really good, doesn’t it?”
“Yeah. It feels like our feelings are truly becoming a picture.”

Finally, they added small birds riding the wind. Symbolizing hope and the future, the birds flew freely across the sky. It was the finishing touch to their “heart-weather.”

“Our picture shows sun and clouds, with the wind blowing between them. Even if there are clouds, light shines through the gaps. The wind is the power that leads us to new places.”

Haruto continued, “These birds are our feelings themselves. Riding the wind, they carry the hope of going farther.”

“That’s wonderful. You expressed your feelings in words and turned them into a painting. Your heart-weather gives energy just by looking at it.”

That evening, on their way home, the two walked under the sunset sky.

“Hey, let’s share our feelings like this in the next Pair Test too.”
“Of course. We’re a pair, after all.”

9. Kanon and Haruto and “The Weather of the Heart”

This is the theme song to PBS Kids Zoboomafoo. The show first aired on PBS from January 25, 1999 to around 2010. By 2010, the show was cancelled. It was cancelled because it had to make way for another Kratt Brothers television show, Wild Kratts. Before Zoboomafoo, there was another PBS Kids Kratt Brothers television show and it was shown on PBS Kids in the early 1990s to 1996, it was Kratts Creatures. Zoboomafoo was also shown on Sprouts until 2011. The show was filmed from 1999 to 2001. The lemur that was playing Zoboomafoo was Jovian. After they stopped filming the show in 2001, Jovian lived a great life at Duke Lemur Center in North Carolina. In 2014, he had died from a kidney failure at the age of 20. News of his death spread worldwide. Enjoy
