Ruben Ganev is a Bulgarian sound designer, producer, tutor, performer, and label owner with nearly two decades of experience in sonic craftsmanship. Born in Sofia in 1987 with Armenian heritage, he began experimenting with sound in 2005 and later honed his skills in the UK, graduating in Sound Design from the University of the Arts London in 2011. Influenced by his classical music background and diverse musical tastes, Ganev developed a distinct style that culminated in the founding of his Berlin-based label, mould.audio, in 2020. His productions, praised for their depth and maturity, have gained recognition from top-tier artists and are regularly played in premier clubs and festivals worldwide, including Berghain and Tresor. In 2023, he released music on the esteemed Reclaim Your City label. Now based in Sofia, Ganev continues to produce, release music, and tutor aspiring producers through his individual courses.

Prepare for a sonic journey through techno's evolution. Metapattern's tracks range from deep, hypnotic grooves and infectious rhythms to introspective soundscapes and cinematic explorations. With releases on forward-thinking labels like FLOAT, Truncate, and MORD, Metapattern has quickly established themselves as a dynamic and innovative force in the scene. Their sound has evolved from a focus on harder, more mental textures towards a broader palette, prioritizing expressive tools to craft tracks that are both functional and deeply engaging.

Metapattern seeks a delicate balance between familiarity and innovation. Their goal is to push the boundaries of techno while honoring its roots, delivering music that is not only dancefloor-ready but also imbued with emotion and a profound sense of artistry. This deep connection to the dancefloor stems from the artist's lifelong passion for movement, translating that energy and expression into every beat.

Metapattern is also an Ableton certified professor, author of two books, "Secrets Of Techno," and a professional educator for nearly two decades.

We're also thrilled to share  that Metapattern has just released their second album, "Lost Tapes," on the MORD label.

This episode continues VARIA's mission: championing considered electronic expression and lasting artistry.

Zac is not only a gifted artist but also a core member of Scordisci. We were genuinely mesmerised when we first discovered his sound - textural, atmospheric, and deeply intentional.

Now based in London after growing up in Eora Sydney, Zac brings a unique perspective to his selections. Part storyteller, part sound sculptor.

It’s a true pleasure to have him with us, both behind the decks and within the collective.

Emerging from the smoke and undercurrent of London’s twilight hours, Livid is shaping a sound that is as raw as it is refined. Behind the decks and beneath the surface, her selections unfold like immersive rituals, where rolling rhythms and shadowy atmospheres balance emotional intensity with precise control. The result is hypnotic elegance that drives dancefloors into deep, transformative states.

Originally from Rome and now rooted in London’s underground, Livid carries her influences across borders, blending grit with magnetic fluidity. Through her residency with Snooze Afterhours, she continues to refine her voice, carving out a space defined by consistency, depth, and an unwavering devotion to the craft.

It is a pleasure to welcome her to the series and to finally place a name beside this journey.

Scordisci, a London-based Electronic Music label and event series, is dedicated to providing a diverse platform for both traditional techno and more avant-garde electronic compositions, including electro-acoustic pieces from classical music. Our focus lies on EP concepts and a commitment to honest, innovative music. We believe in artists with a clear vision and a desire to evoke genuine emotion, free from clichés. At Scordisci, there are no artificial barriers to the styles we embrace.

Beyond traditional club events, Scordisci seeks to champion experimental expressions within the electronic music realm. Our vision is to bridge the gap between segregated forms of electronic music, emphasising that all music, regardless of genre, is ultimately just that: music.
