Created for the "Star Fox meets Dating Sim" absurdity that is Wing Buddies, my team's 2018 Global Game Jam contribution.

When the Jam started, I got a little overzealous and started writing a piece with a ton of parts. A good thing to keep in mind for these things is to keep it simple! Otherwise, you're going to end up with a track like this that is poorly mixed and isn't arranged as well as it could be ^_ ^;;

Wren You Loved Me (Bird Pop 3)

Created for the "Star Fox meets Dating Sim" absurdity that is Wing Buddies, my team's 2018 Global Game Jam contribution.

Once we were set on the idea of incorporating Dating Sim aspects into our game, I decided to go outside of my comfort zone and try to write some pop hooks. I've been listening to a lot of Shoji Meguro's work on Persona recently, which is a clear influence on this cut.

Corridors of Time (Chrono Trigger) | The Hard Modes

“Monday’s Theme” is a very lazy, easy-going tune. I imagine that if there were actually people playing this, the banjo player would be sitting in a rocking chair on a porch, hat over his or her face with a long piece of wheat hanging out (or something equally as stereotypical). The whistler would be working out in the field, harvesting, gearing up for a long, hard work week, but not getting into things too quickly. Since everyone is so laid back and unworried, they’re just strumming along, not particularly worried about being exactly in time."

Monday's Theme

When writing this tune I envisioned Link running around in the woods slashing at baddies. It’s an easygoing-yet-luscious portrayal of a sunny day in the forest.

Heart of the Woods

Originally written to be more of an epic film track, “Behemoth” quickly evolved into a menacing boss theme. Listen for the woodwinds to provide hints of a sinister insanity above the lumbering brass and percussion.

There were two main influences for this piece:
1) Imagining a giant, threatening beast (like a Final Fantasy behemoth, except a boss-type one) bursting into a room prepared to devour you.
2) The zodiac boss fights in Final Fantasy Tactics.
