Wallas is open to interpretation, informed by the understanding that the human experience is both dizzyingly complex and bafflingly simple, depending on the combination of sensual stimuli in any given moment. The conspicuity of rhythm is a veil to the more introspective underpinnings of Esperanza by MoM, ANuT, and CharlieM, with a certain cerebral momentum hidden within electronic intricacies throughout. The single is a byproduct of being in confinement in 2020, “because precisely we hope that there will be a better world in the future,” as MoM explains. With this ambitiously simple message concerning the fundamental principles of love, sharing, and helping, the music becomes analogous to life itself. I’ve been diving into the Auto Filter Audio Effect in Ableton Live 12.2 – and it felt like a real revelation. Until now, I had never really worked with it, but I quickly discovered how many creative possibilities this effect has to offer. What really stood out to me was the External Source function: it lets you feed the filter with a rhythm taken from one of Live’s Instruments or even Audio files, giving your sound a more dynamic, organic movement.

Experimenting with it instantly brought more depth and variation to my sound. The Auto Filter has impressed me so much that I’ve already decided to make it a permanent part of my standard Audio and MIDI Effects template. This weeks scale is C Minor Pentatonic.
