Shapeshifting between funky, mysterious, pensive, and compelling, Abendrot is an assertion of personal eclecticism, a nod to the Argentine producer’s Berlin base, and Ulises’ second EP on Scorpios Music. Peppered with Latin-inspired percussion and ethereal synths, Abendrot is the soundtrack to an afterglow state — or a “farewell to the sun until the next dawn” as he puts it — spent wandering a phantasmagoric desert landscape embellished with the shapes and colours of a Dalí or Gaudí sketchbook.

“It’s Time” is a downtempo acknowledgment of the little voice inside us all that encourages us to finish something or start something new. Whether understood individually or collectively, the message behind the E.P.'s lead track speaks to a wide audience, transgressing borders, time and space much like the music itself.

The Sonic Discoveries EP brings together some of our favorite new artists and residents onto one record, one that takes listeners on a journey across different soundscapes, moods and tones, simultaneously transcendent and dancefloor friendly. Evoking “mysterious groovy circular motion”, the records’ moonscape melodies have been composed to invoke transcendent moments and movements. 

"La Luna" blends ethereal synths, ritual drumming and the signature vocals of Temple Haze to call on the power of the celestial.

Combining sounds, cultures and influences, SELA brings PAAX’s groovy experimental sound into a new realm — with Cape Town’s Sakhe The Conqueror’s delivering powerful isiXhosa vocals to elevate and bring people together.

PAAX have infused the record with a joyful energy and rhythm, blending irresistibly catchy guitar licks from Cuban player Emilio Campos Rojas with Sakhe’s lyrics, ones that encourage us to drink the water of life (or to take the music as a message of healing, in and of itself). In addition, renowned producer Jean Claude Ades provides a club focused remix, sprinkling uplifting melodies to channel the essence of the setting sun.

This record emerged from a partnership between Scorpios Music and Bridges For Music — an NGO dedicated to empowering young creatives from under-served communities in Cape Town. All proceeds from the record will be donated to Bridges For Music.

Sakhe The Conqueror, an alumnus of Bridges Academy, was discovered by BFM Records, a leading independent South African label, dedicated to supporting artists in realizing their vision and reaching global audiences.

With a focus on electronic music exhibiting subtle-to-bold elements of the primeval and far-flung, Scorpios Music is the immortalization of a soundscape — that which Scorpios Mykonos has traversed since materializing as a club in 2015 throughout the process of establishing itself to near-universal acclaim as a tribal enclave of eudaimonic hedonism and the seedbed of aesthetically oriented empathetic sociality.
