Parly B first held the mic as a teenager in the 90s, inspired by dancehall legends such as Capleton, Papa San and Cutty Ranks. He got involved with his local scene in Doncaster mainly hosting Jungle nights, so he is as much at home in a rave as in a dancehall session. In fact, he only burst into the dub and reggae scene relatively recently, but with a vibe and distinctive sound that producers are hungry for, so he has quickly amassed a large catalogue. Scotch Bonnet Records felt it was time to put together a collection of his work on the label and it was hard to decide what to leave out.

Here at Scotch Bonnet Records we love Reggae music's rich heritage. Not only is it is as strong today as it ever has been, soundsystem culture has now spread to every corner of the world. To celebrate this we have compiled a few musically important releases from some of the key musicians and producers that have influenced and nourished Scotch Bonnet records since the start. Knowing where to start was hard, but we have grappled with the slippery beast of personal taste and settled on tracks that we can all proudly stand behind. Some have appeared on single, some are dubs that Mungo’s Hi Fi couldn’t stop playing on the Soundsystem, and there are some brand new pieces to keep it crispy fresh. The end result is Puffers Choice.

BANANA ZVUK - is a DJ / producer duo from Split, Croatia. Luka Barbić and Ivan Jurić - Yuri, croatian hip-hop MC's from regionally well established and popular bands TBF and St!llness, started Banana Zvuk as a side project in 2006.

We both shared big passion for reggae music and decided to try something different from our bands, mainly just so we can have more fun for our selfs. As time went on, we became more serious about it, toured a lot around the region and also worked as resident Djs in our city clubs.

We played some of the biggest festivals in Croatia, including Seasplash in Pula, INmusic in Zagreb, and Garden in Zadar. The music we play is a blend of different reggae styles, from roots and dancehall to hip hop and jungle, remixes and mashups.
What glues all together is a great amount of positive energy, love and good vibrations we spread through our sets. Recently we started producing music, creating our own beats and making remixes.

Our debut album - Split Banana contains seven songs in versatile reggae styles, featuring some of the worlds best reggae performers - Tenor Fly, The Ragga Twins, Skarra Mucci, etc…

We love bananas because they are the only fruit to contain the amino acid, tryptophan plus Vitamin B6, which together help the body to produce seratonin - the natural chemical which alleviates mental depression - so, eating bananas can cheer you up.

Ruckus Fx which is a new project from Dirty Dubsters / Irish Moss Records front man Jay Sharp teams up with Parly B for some bass heavy soundsystem action. The original mix brings in dub reggae vibes with big beats and amen style drum breaks. Parly B lays down the vocals sending out some good time vibes to build up the dancefloor and get the party started.

Remixes come in from heavy hitter King Yoof (Chopstick Dubplate), Bazza Ranks and Mr Upfull. King Yoof brings a big 140bpm jungle amen style break track, while Bazza Ranks heads down a old school garage vibe and finally Mr Upfull lays down a sweet roots dub reggae riddim.

Volume 5 of the ever popular series of compilations from NICE UP! and it's another round up of the labels action over the last year or so, with big singles from Seanie T & Roots Manuva, Origin One, Mr Benn and Preacha alongside vocalists such as Rider Shafique, Parly B and Gardna with tracks spanning hip hop, reggae, dancehall, drum & bass, jungle and more!

As always there are some brand new and exclusive remixes included, most of which are previously unreleased. First up, US duo Folding City get busy with Origin One and Irah's huge "My Yout" twisting it into a darker grime/dancehall hybrid.
