The Gherkin Jerks Compilation

The original 12" vinyl releases of Stomp The Beat and 1990 were two “Holy Grail” releases of Chicago House as they were only available for a short time before Gherkin Records went into inactive status in around 1991. At the time Larry Heard chose to not disclose the fact that he was the producer behind the Gherkin Jerks EPs. The two releases were a concept of experiments where he dove deeper into the equipment and do some creatively different tracks from his Mr. Fingers sound. These two legendary EPs have been heavily influential on other artists to this day. Often sampled or referenced they are true house classics and still amaze 25 years after their creation. 

Also on this album three bonus tracks, which are from the same Gherkin Jerks sessions but never released as such. Psychotic Fantasy was on the Dance 2000 pt. 2 album and Ecstasy is the full original take which makes its first appearence here. Reznaytor is an exclusive track for this release, never available before.

Founder of @scopicrecorduk, this producer & DJ based out of East London is one to watch. His latest release has seen him team up with @officialbyrontheaquarius on remix duties and his sound is revealing of his inspirations - G-Funk to Chicago, Dam Funk to Chez Damier - this is one hour very well spent. 🚀

Scotia is a devout believer in the transcendence that occurs when seemingly opposing elements reveal their harmony. Her sets weave together the contemporary frontiers of Techno with the foundational sounds of Acid, House & Disco, and Club music she fell in love with in her youth. She is at once the motherly mystic & the firecracker trickster, and nearly a decade of DJing across the Northeast has given her the skill & wisdom to take dancers along storylines that twist & arc with the groove. 

Scotia is a resident of the Hudson Valley’s Community Rave Network, where she has lovingly helped to build a thriving Queer-centered dance community that has been blessed by both veterans like Gávilan Rayna Russom, Ron Like Hell, and up-and-comers like Hunter Starkings and Sister Zo. Her production work centers around simple jackin’ hardware tracks that utilize her own vocals, and are just beginning to surface on various compilations ‘round the world, with a forthcoming EP in 2024.
