Eyes of silver...so, this is a song I originally wrote with just myself on acoustic and vocals.  The version here is my first attempt at recording and producing myself. Its been a real learning curve getting to this point, but I'm pretty happy with the results. 
What started as a simple, stripped down song with an almost dirge like ending, has turned into something rather different. 
I've attempted an almost ethereal sound for the first half, before bringing in a more distorted, synth and drum driven ending. 
To keep with the 'ethereal' theme, I decided to overdub the vocals many a time and I think it adds an interesting texture to the sound. 
I'm asking any listeners to post or pm me with their thoughts  on it and any other numbers you listen to.  I'm particularly interested in hearing what you think works or doesn't with regards to the sound. I'm unlikely to change the actual song itself but I'm happy to evolve the song based on feedback. Is their a synth line that feels abrasive or a section that feels it is lacking something? I'd be grateful for you feedback and I hope you enjoy.

So, this is the second song I feel is pretty close done. It differs from Eyes of Silver quite a lot, although it still has the acoustic guitar running through it. I wrote the guitar absolutely ages ago and would improvise the lyrics. Eventually I found myself repeating refrains, notably the first verse and the chorus. There was never any initial intent behind the words, they just fit.  
After recording the guitar and adding the drums, I took to the vocals again and considered what I previously sang.  This happened to coincide with finding out I was going to become a dad. Upon reflection, the words that had merely been place holders years ago seemed almost portentous. They seemed to fit wonderfully with the sudden desire to protect and nurture my first progeny and so the second verse was created quickly and I now had a real meaning to attach to the song. 
As for the music, I decided to add a nasty sounding synth to emphasise the guitar melody and in turn this became what I consider to be the main hook. I hope the fuzz on it isn't too abrasive, but that's why I would love to hear your feedback.

Thanks for the feedback on the earlier demos. I've done a few modifications based on your thoughts. 
- More treble on vocals and guitar,
- re-recorded guitar (it was slightly out of time in the chorus...think I was hoping only I would notice heh)
-Extra synth under chorus (not from feedback but I think it fattens the sound)

An extra updated version of an updated version. 
I noticed some of levelling of the synth had pushed in some nasty crackle. Vocals still a bit quiet in the first half of the heavy bit.

Update- realised a vocal line was missing on the chorus...so it should be better now!

So this is a song I started yonks ago just on the acoustic. I enjoyed playing it but always thought it was missing something, so I've added in a bridge between the last two choruses. I'm pretty happy with the results and adding a dance beat to the bridge and choruses really helped give it a proper stomp.
I suspect the melodic synth under the chorus may be a bit high in the mix but please, let me know what you think...
Any comments are greatly appreciated. I know it needs panning but I haven't really figured that out yet! It's on the list heh.

It's Alright (demo-update)

I was recently reading a series of books by Robin Hobb called 'The Liveship Traders' and ended up using this as inspiration for the song.  The first words to come to me were the chorus. I was intrigued by the idea that, no matter how well you know someone, how many adventures you shared, you would only ever see a certain part of them as they were 'falling away' from you, however that may be. 

This thought manifested in a song about a love affair loosely based on characters in the book. It's a brief account of a meeting and a sharing of lives together, with an ultimately tragic ending. 

I'd love to talk more with  you all about it, or just to hear what you think. 
There's a lot more of tinkering to be done with it yet, but I wanted to get it out there and see your reactions so far.

For the first time (I saw your eyes)-demo

Having a great time making my own music. 
The production side is pretty new to me, but I'm pretty happy with the results so far.
I'm generally attempting to blend acoustic guitar and synth and hopefully create some interesting melodies.
Thematically, I do like to go on a little frolic. Viking burials, pirate ships, death, life and love all rear their heads.
