Emery. What Are You Looking For?

This was recorded somewhere around 96 at Jigsaw Studios. This was some of my earliest song writing. Fiachra has such a beautiful tone to his voice. Karl's Bass playing was intricate and precise. Craig had a knack of keeping great time and rarely missed a note. I was Drummer and always tried to use every drum and cymbal in a different way in every song. It sometimes worked. I'd say we all came together well in this track. 

The song was written about pretty much the model industry and the need to look stereotype thin and beautiful in order to be successful, and what lengths young people will go to to look this way.

Kite Acoustic

This is 'Feeling You Again' from our (Emery) Debut and only album 'More Ways Than One' recorded in 1998 at Adelaide Studios in the beautiful rurals of Essex.

It was originally taken into the studio as a 'Skeleton' of a song in terms of arrangement etc. It wasn't until my vocals were laid down that it really started to feel like a song as such.
I still like this and am very proud of the fact that to me it still has that essence of what it is i still love to focus on when writing songs. Hope you enjoy. ;)

Feeling you again

This is the second track taken from the Album 'More Ways Than One' from my previous band 'Emery' 

Another song that just kind of evolved in the rehearsal room. I think we tried to shave a minute off of it a few times to make it more radio friendly when sending it to record companies etc. but we just ended up reverting back to the longer version. If memory serves me correctly, this is the song that got Chrysalis Records interested initially! 
One rather shameless and cringe worthy fact, the song's opening two chords G and C were 'Borrowed' let's say, or inspired by Skid Row's (Eighties hair metal band) 'I Remember You'

All Away

3rd Installment from the album 'More Ways Than One' again, always a live favorite of ours. It was often our opening song as it gave the soundman plenty of time to set all the levels nicely and it gave a good platform for me to warm my vocal as there are lows and highs, lights and shades ;)

Recorded in lovely Essex countryside by Grant Matthews @Studio Adelaide around 98-99
Iv'e used FL Studio to brighten things up in places and added some extra compression here and there, but in the main here it is ;) hope you enjoy xx Scott.
