DJ Welly presents: Built From Scratch Volume 4

This is the 4th offering in my trilogy of studio based, scratch mix productions. It took a total of 4 months to compile and put together.

Built From Scratch Volume 4 is my tribute to the world of the scratch DJ and the DJ's place in the 4 elements of Hip-Hop culture. It is an assault on the senses, insane in parts, and will take more than a few listens to truly take everything in. If you're into scratching this mix is for you!

I approached Volume 4 with an old skool ethic, a throw back to the old 4 track recording days (albeit with an infinite amount of tracks at my disposal) taking samples from original funk, rock, soul, hip-hop and jazz records of the 60's, 70's 80's as well as more recent music. 

This mix, for the most part, is a series of 16bar left turns, built up on layers of breaks, bass lines and beats and topped with samples, sound effects and dialogue recorded from vinyl, TV, YouTube videos & DVD movies, all scratched into the mix via Serato Scratch Live, it even features my 8yr old son shredding his electric guitar in one of the sections! There is over 1400 samples in volume 4, all recorded into the mix from the turntables, a monumental effort!

I poured my heart and soul into this project, and I'm really pleased with the end result. I hope you enjoy listening to it as much as I did putting it together.

Scott Mac Ftloch 2016

Scott Mac has produced and performed worldwide under his own name and aliases such as Mac & Mac ,Drax & Scott Mac and De:Progression, whilst releasing tracks on the worlds most established labels including Blackhole, Nebula, Spinnin & Positiva. 

First playing as warm up DJ for the likes of Nancy Noise, Paul Oakenfold and Steve Lee at London's Gass Club, Maximus & Limelights, Scott went on to secure guest spots at legendary clubs such as Naked Lunch, Gardening Club, Club UK, Leisure Lounge,Clockwork Orange , F.U.B.A.R and Shindig throughout the 90's. 

Making a move to Holland in the 90's proved to be a master stroke as Scott went on to secure residencies at the Hour Power & After Hour Power parties that championed the after hours scene in Amsterdam, where Scott held residencies and regular guest spots at clubs such as The Escape & It.

In the times that followed, Scott went on to perform worldwide for club brands SLINKY , GATECRASHER & CREAM in such places as Hong Kong, Singapore, Kula Lumpur, China, South Africa, Brazil and the US. The list goes on and on.

Recently Scott and partner Marz have been behind the successful For The Love Of Classic House nights, held at various venues throughout London including the newly refurbished Pacha, with guests including Nancy Noise (Future/Spectrum), Rocky (X-Press2), Dom Moir (Shoom) and Andy Manston (Clockwork Orange).
