Loneliness (Composition No. 11)

This is a recording of me and two other 8th grade classmates performing live in front of the 6th and 7th grade classes at my grade school to raise money for The March of Dimes in 1975.

Saw her strut across the hardwood floor
Glance sharp like a metaphor
Slit-green eyes and a silver shine
She didn't walk-she glided like a crime

Took one look, forgot my name
My drink got warm, my heart got tame
Velvet hush in the midnight air
Something told me, "Boy, beware..."

She's got claws, and she's not afraid to use 'em
Purrs when she's winning, bites if you lose 'em
Moves like trouble wrapped in lace
But she'll rub her cheek right on your face

She curls up tight when the thunder rolls
Sleeps in the sink like she's guarding souls
Won't come when you call, but she'll come when she feels
And lord help the man who tries to make deals

I bought her tuna, she took my chair
She stole my socks and didn't care
And when I asked her what's the plan
She just yawned like a tiny, furry tyrant can

She's the queen of the windowsill
Of 3am zoomies and sleeping still
She stares at ghosts I'll never see
And kneads her throne right into me

She's got claws, and she's living rent-free
Owns my house and occasionally me
Scratches the door like a femme fatale
Then runs from a cucumber in the hall

And yeah, I thought it was fate
Thought I'd found the one too late
But when she curled on my chest
And meowed with her breath...

...I realized, to my shock and awe
I've been writing love songs to a ten-pound ball of fluff with a murder paw

She's got claws, and she's chasing the moon
Screaming at walls and knocking down spoons
Purrs like thunder, soft as sin
And she's napping in a laundry bin

She's got claws-and I adore her still
My little tiger with a predatory thrill
No femme fatale, no siren song
Just my kitten... who's been plotting all along

She's Got Claws

I can string a lot of words together, plot the chords upon the measure,
Play them back to your great pleasure while you sing along.
I can choose these words to make ‘em rhyme, spit ‘em out infour/four time,
But I could never, ever write a song.
I can write some lyrics that won’t bore us, maybe even add a chorus,
Dub in harmony so glorious, play it loud and long.
I can play the bass to give it bottom, play the notes, and even dot ‘em.
But I could never, ever write a song.

You keep saying it’s beyond your power.
Can’t never could, and never will.
What if I told you that you can be anything you want?
So, don’t focus on the things you can’t do, just the ones your really want to,
And I think it might surprise you what you can get done.
Find someone who shares your passion, make a plan, put it in action.
Now the revolution has begun.

I am tall enough to reach the pedal, have my license and the title.
Keys are in my pocket, but I’d never drive a car.
I’m afraid, you see, of where I might go, I might drive too fast or too slow.
Never know, I might go way too far.
I hope you see the point I’m making, I don’t think I am mistaken.
If we’re only waking up, you know we have a chance.
But unless we get our act together, we are in for stormy weather.
We need lots of partners for this dance.

You keep saying it’s beyond your power.
Can’t never could, and never will.
What if I told you that you can be anything you want?
So, if you agree, get on the boat, button up your overcoat.
Exercise your right to vote, together we can’t fail.
I sure hope you will remember, come first Tuesday in November,
Is the day this boat of ours is set to sail

Forever Man

90's influenced hard rock produced and recorded in Metro Detroit.

I've become the slow momentum of common value in decline.
Hats of to those who made it. As for me, I'm getting back in line.

All the hopeless lining up with what they found.
Who decides who will fly, I'm running out of one more try.
And the hapless, cueing up for one more round.
Who decides when stars align, I'm running out of one more try.
As the hopeless pass me by.

All the good that I found, slowly leaks and slowly lets you down.
Now you have my soul to take. On the run and feeling less than great.

I apologise for the repeats but I feel some of my tunes went to production too soon and I needed to work on them so much more.  So here I am rewriting and restructuring many as some are too long and others need the vocal line redone.  I will be uploading these unplugged versions onto YouTube as I do not perform (autism) so this is as close to playing live as I will get. My timing is all over the place as I cannot do maths and my dyspraxia means my motor skills are rubbish and my guitar playing limited. Thank you for your support.
