I had a show at University Tennessee, Knoxville and was invited out into the country on a hot, late summer evening.

Using hydrophones I recorded in the depths of a pond in a beautiful setting north of New York City.  I don't know what made the sounds... fish?

Chryopoeia—the alchemical search for a distillation of substance that would transform it into gold.  The ordinary reveals the one within the all.

Chryopoeia: Water into Sound uses a field recording of a stream in rural Pennsylvania, and through a process of distillation, the stream slowly dissolves into pure tone and sound.

Outside of Otranto, Italy, prehistoric stones and dolmen sit amidst an olive grove.  Grooves were cut into the stones to act a basins.  I visited the site on an early summer evening, and recorded the ambient sounds of wind, insects, and the quiet presence of the place, itself.  No other sounds were added, but the history of the space was revealed to me.

Dolmen

The Otranto Cathedral has the most remarkable mosaic floor by Panteleone who began it in 1163.  It includes King Arthur, the tree of life resting on the back of an elephant, and many strange images from a Jungian dream.  This is a recording of the bells.  I stayed in an apartment overlooking the cathedral and became very familiar with these overtones.
