I believe we need to do our due diligence when we're going to comment or share something on someone else's network. This was the reason why click-bait did so well originally. To avoid spreading false information, we need to have some due diligence even if that means just briefly going through the video or skimming the post you are reading. Again this isn't a demand I'm making, but rather a thoughtful suggestion. We can all benefit by avoiding misunderstandings and can better formulate our arguments when we firmly know our opponents position.

We Should Do Our Due Diligence Before Commenting SCB-24

The simple advice I can give about advice and opinions on your passion is that you should do whatever you think is best and not rely on other people's advice. There is a difference between advice and learning something from someone. They are typically use interchangeably, but largely I consider advice a way for you to blame the mentor or person who gave the advice if it doesn't work. If you learn from someone and apply it on your own terms and accept the outcomes as something that you caused and its your responsibility to with deal then you can improve yourself and genuinely grow.

I recently shared a post that gave some advice on this and I will include that here.
We all tend to value the opinions of the people we spend the most time with. If they don't support your passion, then you have to step back and realize a few things.
1. They aren't you and have no idea what you want and are capable of
2. They likely aren't authorities on what you're asking them about and you shouldn't place their opinion on a pedestal.
3. You can cut them off if it is seriously affecting how you feel
4. They could just be envious of your audacity to do what you want and regret they didn't.
5. They may need validation that what they are doing wasn't the wrong choice.
6. You control who you spend time with and whose opinions you value. Don't value someone who doesn't value you!

If no one believes in you or at least you feel that no one does. I believe in you and your passion. I believe in it so much that I dare you to have the audacity to pursue it. Reach your full potential and become self actualized!

Asking For Opinions And Advice About Your Passion SCB-25

There are many differences between someone with a fixed mindset and someone with a growth mindset, but most of us have a mix of the two and many of us are unaware of the differences and associated behaviors. I talk about the main points around skills, challenges, effort, feedback, and setbacks. I’m not perfect and no one is otherwise their mindset would be fixed a.k.a not growing to be better. It’s important to reflect on fixed mindset behaviors so we can try to adjust and improve ourselves. Typically, you will see that those with fixed mindsets end up becoming apathetic, pessimistic, lethargic, unmotivated, discouraged, and unfulfilled while those who adamantly strive towards growing and improving are more optimistic, motivated, ambitious, passionate, encouraged, and fulfilled. It’s not that they were this way and then began to grow, it’s because they strive towards a growth mindset that they have gained the positive benefits of doing so. The reason I’m sharing this is because you too can benefit from trying to approach problems with a growth mindset. We know from evolution that the most evolved is not the strongest nor the smartest, but rather the most adapted.

Growth Mindset Versus A Fixed Mindset SCB-26

I recently made a video about surrounding yourself with people who support your passion and why that's important and two days ago I did a video on growth mindset versus fixed mindset. This is a follow up to both of those and sort of the missing link because while it's important to learn how to handle negative sentiment from those close to you also still need to be aware of the hard truths they will tell you and be sure not to punish them for giving you the information you need to improve because we want to strive for a growth mindset always. I talk about why I think it's critical to avoid having yes men in your circle or relying on their advice and how you can cultivate and encourage your circle to be hard truthers with you so that you can always rely on their judgement. Also by encouraging yes men, you encourage your friends and family to lie to you and subconsciously you're all probably trusting each other less and less.

Focus on the work before the brand. Lately I have seen that people are trying to do this in reverse. 

They start to build a big brand off nothing and then have nothing to show because they don’t have any processes for content or really any processes at all. When you wait until you have everything perfect it’s too late. So whether your creating content or building a business, you need to have an actual business to brand before you focus everything on presentation. You can present what you have to say at the Superbowl for the whole world, but if you have nothing to say then does it matter? This isn't for #Linkedin specifically as I actually see it the most for #Instagram businesses, but the concept is equally applicable

It’s almost the same for dieting, it’s the same for most things. Changing the presentation but presenting the same content and data won’t make a difference. You can’t treat a rebrand like you’re going to win the lottery after. It still comes back to the effort and the work always. Learn to work hard before you can work smart.

Build Your Business Before You Focus On Brand - SCB30

You should always be pushing to improve your content so that the compounding effect of the improvements create a massive difference over time. This was done for my Linkedin audience, but I feel still has value regardless

If you want your #Linkedin content to be great, you have to start continuous improvement today! I talk about this in-depth for why I think this is so important for Linkedin users to push themselves to try making a video on Linkedin and see the amazing reaction and how amazing the #community is. I treated this like my resume back in the day, but now I finally see the way. Linkedin is for business and really anybody looking to give, or receive, but it will take a lot of work indeed. Just try it out once, have faith and believe. That's was #contentcreation 101.

Always Be Improving Your Content - SCB31

People are always debating whether the ideal of work ethic should be working smart and optimizing or working hard and hustling.

Well, it's an odd debate because arguing either side implies that the other side is less useful when that is not the case. Working hard and working smart go hand in hand for achieving the best results. If you only do one or the other then you can only beat someone on your level or below whereas if you are doing both you have set yourself up to have the most potential to succeed.

I get that this can mean different things to different people, but the core message here is that you need both.

By better managing your time you can do so much more with so much less. By managing my time better, I've been able to focus better, be more productive and lower my levels stress and anxiety.

Time Management Is An Underrated Skill - SCB33

It's not easy to always be disciplined, stay consistent, and keep grinding, but it's worth it. It's ironic as I have been slacking a little lately, but I believe it all the same. I make the analogy of how it works the same with something like working out. If you still go to the gym even when you don't want to, you will be able to achieve the results you truly want and get the fulfillment from having overcome the obstacles and or challenges in your way. I don't think you should overwork yourself or do anything drastic, but I believe discipline is an amazing thing and we cannot opt-in to do the things we set out to only on the days that we feel like doing so.

Staying Consistent, Being Disciplined, And Grinding - SCB34

You need the mindset to be rich first. If you can feel rich, think rich, and live rich, then the wealth will naturally follow. 

Also, I don't mean pretending to be rich by wasting your money to appear rich, I mean living as if you were rich in terms of financial literacy and economically sound decisions. The issue with the middle class is they spend all their income to look rich while the rich use assets to pay for things they want. Before we can buy the things we want we need to acquire and hold assets. There are so many other aspects to living rich outside of wealth including spirituality, your mental health, etc. The point is that you need to reverse engineer your long term goals and if you reverse engineer how you would be rich and live like that's already the case, you will attract that lifestyle given you dedicate to it.
