"I did one last disco song"

This track was written with a specific instrument in mind: the unmistakable voice of Shamir Bailey, who recently traded glimmering disco-pop ballads for a new brand of soul-searching lo-fi. A duet with House of Feelings bandleader Matty Fasano, who contributed sax on Shamir’s 2015 debut Ratchet, the song appears to bookend a certain phase of Shamir’s musical life (the above quote was tweeted by Shamir when we announced the track's existence). That bittersweet, maybe-an-ending, maybe-a-beginning feeling is manifest in the series of repeated, unanswered questions that make up the lyrics. "Who's gonna change the motion / when you're standing right by my side?"

I have fucking had it with cisgendered, pretty-face priveleged, lightskinned colorism apologists and mansplainers who feel like this world owes them a-n-y-t-h-i-n-g. If it wasn't for darkskinned femmes Where. Would. Yall. Be? And you who are darkskinned.....wow. How Uncle Tomcoon yall tryna be? 

Egos love their illusions and the white world y'all are seeking so much validation from is smiling wider with each endeavor they spot your ego fueling. Your ego will be your downfall. It has already begun: look who you're now surrounding yourselves with------- It's like you *want* to be enabled.... go right on ahead. I guess the bridges yall burning are par for the course, considering the kind of ladder yall trying to climb. Clearly, it is not us who switched up. Enjoy your coins, and keep that energy over there. 

Just because the world is fucked up doesn't give yall an excuse to be fucked up towards others. Let this be a reminder to move in humility, move with integrity, and the patience to think before you speak and act. 

Do unto others. Or gag.

I have been quiet for a long time.

For those who have been taken advantage of by the last people they'd expect. For those who are told to bite their tongue and be grateful for receiving and being treated less than they deserve. For those who continue to be ghosted, swerved and curved because accountability is still too frightening. For those who strive every day not to do to them what they did to you. For those who have stayed quiet for far too long. Here are but two catharses.

These sounds are a reminder to all darkskinned femmes that vocalizing your pain is not a burden. Let these sounds be a reminder that you were conditioned to be afraid of your shadow, because it has answers that lead you towards liberation. Let these sounds be an aid in your unlearning, and augment to your own shadow work. For you have just as much right to your feelings of vengeance, anger, hurt, and frustration as any other lighter skinned woman, or "man" (whatever the fuck that is).

The world will always find one way or another to fuck you over. It's the only way we grow. That doesn't give you an excuse to be the same toward others. But if you must embrace your shadow in unhealthy ways, educate yourself first. The universe will have a way of making you deal with what you put others through. Always.

A reminder to move with integrity.
Move in humility.
Think before you speak.
Think before you act.
Do unto others.
Or gag.

Instead of total hatred, we give you TOTAL SOLIDARITY. We present you with the compilation created thanks to the cooperation of Oramics collective and the person behind New York Haunted label - Drvg Cvltvre. All proceeds from the digital sales will support Polish queer organizations: Kampania Przeciw Homofobii and Miłość Nie Wyklucza, who monitor homophobia, provide all kind of support for queer people and have agreed to help us redistribute the proceeds throughout LGBTQIA+ organizations in smaller cities and towns of Poland, who need them the most.

Among the supporters of our action, you will find international headliners, underground stars, beginners, heroes from our local scene in Poland and music from the members of Oramics collective.

In recent years, we have observed an evolving campaign of homophobia run by the right-wing Polish government, spread by the government media and fueled by the Catholic Church. We have heard that the LGBTQIA+ community is a plague, a dangerous ideology, a threat to morality and Polish culture and should be fought with fire. These words caused an eruption of violence, e.g. recent pogrom-like attacks on a Pride march in Białystok and targeting queer people on the streets as well as their allies wearing rainbow symbols. This atmosphere of disrespect, violence and hate leads many Polish queer people to depression, migration or even suicide.
The electronic music scene in Poland has recently taken a stand and many initiatives, festivals, collectives and clubs declared their solidarity and support. We want to take it further and do what we do best: share our passion for music and creating spaces where we can all feel free and at home. Music, art and the club scene are all parts of culture which is not and cannot be indifferent to historical and social turmoils or political oppression. Quite the contrary, it has always been the voice of resistance. Club culture is something more than hedonistic sounds letting you forget about your everyday life, it is something more than a way to make money - it is a tool that can help other people. Apart from the fundraiser party at Jasna 1 on August 9th 2019, we present you with the compilation “TOTAL SOLIDARITY” created thanks to the cooperation of Oramics collective and the person behind New York Haunted label - Drvg Cvltvre. All proceeds from the digital sales will support Polish queer organizations: Kampania Przeciw Homofobii and Miłość Nie Wyklucza, who monitor homophobia, provide all kind of support for queer people and have agreed to help us redistribute the proceeds throughout LGBTQIA+ organizations in smaller cities and towns of Poland, who need them the most. It took us less than a week to collect more than 100 tracks from all kinds of electronic music genres, from various different producers from far and near who wish to support the queer community in Poland. We want to say, sing and bang it out loud: Queer rights are human rights. We’re in this together.

The fight for equality in Poland is an ongoing battle, so the compilation has an open formula - whoever wants to contribute after the release, please contact us.
