This is the main riff of the song Charlie Brown by Coldplay.  I am studying it for an assignment in my School of Rock class. The riff is made up of the notes A#, C, and D repeated over and over. These notes are the tonic (red) = A#, the mediant (blue) = C, and subdominant (green) = D. Tension builds and is released every time through the riff.
