Tom Budden’s, ALiVE Recordings, returns this May with Emanuel Satie & ManooZ’ ‘Make It Work’ EP, 
backed with remixes by Viadrina and DJ Le Roi. 
ALiVE Recordings was launched in 2008 by Brit producer Tom Budden, a staple of sorts for budding English 
talents, with the likes of KRL, Rebel, Chris James and Bubba & TBone being shining examples of this. In 
saying this ALiVE certainly bears no global restrictions as the roster boast some heavy hitters from across the 
globe too, such as NTFO, Javi Bora and Atapy, always delivering underground house and techno of 
uncompromising quality. Here German duo Emanuel Satie & ManooZ provide exactly that, with their signature 
raw, soul-driven house, that’s graced the likes of Noir, Suara, Extended Play and Seven Music, kicking up a 
musical storm. 
The release opens with the original version of title track ‘Make It Work’ here, embracing a low-slung, deep 
house aesthetic with a smooth, evolving chord progression, crunchy drum sounds and a simple, rounded sub 
bass hook that carries the groove, while resonant synthesizers and blues style vocal lines brilliantly meander 
around it. Up next is ‘Be Who I Be’, taking a similar shape with ‘classic’ deep sounds such as penetrating 
sequenced chords, shuffling claps, and a NY garage style vocal that’s brilliantly manipulated to create it’s own 
blossoming movement throughout the cuts duration. 
Entering the latter stages of the release, two remixes are offered up, the first of which is from Polish duo 
Viadrina, who rework ‘Make It Work’, the pair, known for their work with Pets and Klasse, reshape things into a 
heady house groove with an insistent rolling feel, achieved through a stuttering bass, busy drum programming 
and subtle dub tactics. Lastly to close things Swiss producer DJ Le Roi reshapes ‘Be Who I Be’, the Get 
Physical / Compost artist puts a contemporary spin on things with raw electronica style synths, eerie 
atmospherics and a simple yet effective drum workout. 
This is yet another stormer of a release from ALiVE and a stellar addition to the catalogue, Emanuel Satie & 
ManooZ’ ‘Make It Work’ is out on ALiVe Recordings 6th May 2013.
