Burning Man 2024 - Curiouser and Curiouser

Dylan C is my favourite DJ. Such a legend with a deep musical knowledge and sensitivity to energy. I got to join him in this closing set of Ponderosa Ranch festival with my Minimoog. All improvised and played reactively to what Dylan was laying down. Thanks to The Busy Movement for having us ❤️

Sharing my set from the cheeky dance floor we created in the Delicious kitchen of Relish on the early hours of Saturday morning.  It was a real pleasure to come together with such a great bunch to celebrate after what has been a whirlwind of a summer.  And turns out this set captures many tracks special to me over the past few months 💛 some groovy some moody and described by many as 'chill not chill', which is right up my alley!

Relish Festival 2023 - 'Chill not chill' in the Delicious Kitchen Saturday 2am

Love. What does it mean to you? There is a vast spectrum of how we experience love, perceive it, feel it, express it, and create it. During the month of February, I played two sets right around Valentine’s Day that had me organizing all my “love music.” I started to think about  all that love means to me. I noticed that in recent years, I’ve found myself searching for love in the form of a romantic relationship. Searching for a person who wants to receive my love and travel with me on this journey of life. With all that has passed, I’ve often thought, what can I do differently, what can I do better, what is it about me that is too much or not enough? In the midst of my reflections, I happened to come across the following quote by feminist writer, teacher, activist, and scholar Bell Hooks. She says, “I think that part of what a culture of domination has done is raise that romantic relationship up as the single most important bond, when of course the single most important bond is that of community.” It resonated with me so profoundly that I read it out while introducing myself before one of my sets. It made me more cognizant of the fact that the unending support of my community is what has carried me through the empty valleys of the lows. All that I am, all that I have, all that I can be, is rooted in community. I’m so grateful for all of you who are part of my life and continue to invest your time and energy into our relationship. It has been a hard last 6 months. With work causing me to retreat from my usual relationships, I have felt like an absent friend to many. A friend who hasn’t shown up isn’t who I want to be, and it hasn’t felt good. Nevertheless, I feel you. I get your messages of support. I know you are there for me even when I’m not able to be there for you, and that is so appreciated. While my community has carried me through my lows, you’ve also lifted me up to my highest highs. The collective joy we create on the dance floor is absolutely incredible. Bell Hooks writes in All About Love: New Visions, “whether we learn how to love ourselves and others will depend on the presence of a loving environment. Self-love cannot flourish in isolation,” and in a separate passage, “rarely, if ever, are any of us healed in isolation. Healing is an act of communion.” I wouldn't know how to love all parts of myself and others if it wasn’t for the loving environment that I am supported by. This community propels me to love more, to be love, and to embody it in my everyday interactions. I heal when I am with you. This last quote by Hooks is a reminder of how I can continue to grow my practice of love in my life and expand my notion of community. “We can begin the process of making community wherever we are. We can begin by sharing a smile, a warm greeting, a bit of conversation; by doing a kind deed or by acknowledging kindness offered to us. Doing this, we engage in love practice [... and] we lay the foundation for the building of community with strangers. The love we make in community stays with us wherever we go. With this knowledge as our guide, we make any place we go, a place where we return to love.” This mix is a dedication to you, my community. My best friends. My family. My loves. We Are Love // March 2024

(Track List Below) This live set from Center Camp was inspired by the joy and adventure I experienced out on the playa that night. Pulling from the last 10 years of my releases I went back to my roots in that shanti world heart vibe, so much music that I never get to play at big parties and clubs. Played to a huge and empty tent it was one of the highlights of my time in the desert, just for me. Sparkled in are some favorite tracks by other producers. In the moment I felt so much gratitude for all the collaborators, singers and instrumentalists who have worked on these songs with me on this journey. Still that heartfelt thanks is just as present. Sunrise Mix - Burning Man 2024

An afternoon set at RhythmWave at Burning Man 2024. The title was "Impish Interlude Dance", where we moved with the impish spirit of this week in the desert: mischief, subversion, shapeshifting and play. Like the gargoyles which adorn the cornices of cathedrals, this spirit rides the edge between light and dark, the overworld and the underworld, and the sacred and the profane. We began with a movement exploration of lines and planes. In lines, we moved along the edges of the impeccable bamboo dance floor at RhythmWave, giving some structure and constraint to a usually freeform movement. In planes, we explored the high, medium and low levels, making for another set of creative constraints and possibilities.

Impish Interlude Dance - Live at RhythmWave (Burning Man 2024)

My big set riding the big OT sound system for '24 was Monday night, prime time before Marten Hørger. Playing out of our new booth re-design on it's maiden voyage was a night for big, funky, infectious bass face tracks with some other dips into acid tinged house and techno that I knew would would sound soooo good on that system in that setting. It was magic. 

I had so many tracks I wanted to play I made my way through like 25 tracks in 75 minutes.  Also entertained myself by dropping some tracks by some of our guests later in the week like Mau P & Max Styler. Thanks to some of my producer/DJ homies who stoked me on some unreleased music. Hope you enjoy this steady rockin' set.
