Wrote this one in the summer of ‘93 about finding joy in the storm. I still remember scribbling this song down while the rain poured outside. It felt like freedom, like chaos, like being alive. "Dance In the Rain" is about finding joy right in the middle of the storm, not waiting for life to be perfect, just moving with it.

Sometimes the best memories are the messy ones.

Sometimes a song is a journey. I wrote the guitar part and bass line for the chorus of this song back in 2004, but never did anything with it. I loved the vibe, but couldn't finish it. So I stored it away, hoping to pick it up again one day. In 2016, I funneled some angst into lyrics about letting go of something to salvage my heart (and no, the lyrics are not about my wife). In 2022, I recorded a new guitar and remixed everything. Then, in 2025, I gave it an island vibe. I think this is it ... for now ... and it's still not about my wife. I'm gone.

Back in our Cynic Gym days, Ed Schroeder and I wrote “Familiar Darkness” on late-night drives and deep conversations about life, faith, and fear. Somehow, it still feels the same — haunting, playful, and peaceful all at once.
