After a visit to Adam's Fine Wines Emporium and recording facility  from Senor Phil Cooper, I was kindly asked to provide a mix for his excellent Nu Northern Soul podcast. Blue Note jazz was the task in hand. Unfortunately as is the case with me, I got super carried away and spent hours cutting pasting and scratching some of my favourite Blue Note drums,riffs and improvs and came up with a mix which has kind of had an interest taken in it commercially. "Choot Choot" goes the AUS production steam train, chugging along on its merry way. In the driver's cabin this time is Brisbane local Dom Bird. Already one half of popular duo Chord Memory Band and part owner of Beats of No Nation (BONN), Dom's set off on a solo escapade and it's fair to say we're stoked with the results. 

Amazingly, we've been told the whole EP was written and recorded over one studio session with help from percussionist Gus Cereijo. Talk about efficiency! It must've been a day or evening enthused with afro-latin cultures, which can be heard loud and clear on the opener Yemayá, meaning "mother whose children are fish". Read into the title what you may. 

Igniting with the lush synth chords, we're soon introduced to an authentic wind-like instrument and pumping bongos, all which trace an energetic path. The first scene of Mel Gibson's 2006 film "Apolcalypto" features a ferocious chase through the Amazon and Yemayá could very easily be its accompaniment...well I think so anyway.

This release once again proves that the BONN posse are pro multi-instrumentalists and know a vibe when they hear one. Keep it locked!

I am a passionate man who from a very young age has been  interested in various Genres of Music , avidly seeking music that interests me . Having a vast Vinyl and CD collection , Soundcloud has become an extension of this . 
Ska , Reggae , Tamla Motown , Stax and Atlantic got my Mojo started . Followed by David Bowie , Lou Reed and Roxy Music . This was also cemented by Youth Culture alliance . 
Having been a prolific and to a lesser extent today , a Club attendee my taste for music is on going . At various stages of my life I have played my music as a Dj .
For a period I was contributor for a magazine that specialises in Soul old and new . It is called Manifesto , published in the UK . A fantastic enjoyable and informative specialist publication .
