The Masters of Ceremony is the first EP in a series created to fortify the cultural aspects of Hip Hop. We took it back to ground zero in creating these songs. The sole purpose of the MC is to energize, invigorate, and guide the listener to a higher state of mind, whether that be reflection, relaxation or enlightenment. This is the culture and not the business of Hip Hop, to serve as a tuning fork to the emotions, that we may contemplate our current state collectively and forge our collective destiny with heightened perspective. A lot of people MC, but many have no idea what it really means.

Slightly Stoopid announce the official release of Slightly Stoopid & Friends Live At Roberto’s TRI Studios 9.13.11.... It was an honor being invited by the Grateful Dead and Furthur's Bob Weir into his state of the art TRI Studios. Built by our friends at Meyer Sound Labs, and utilizing the technology of their new Constellation sound system, Slightly Stoopid had the privilege to invite some of their close friends and family down to "Roberto's" TRI clubhouse for an unprecedented live webcast and in-studio performance....

Our good friend Tommy Chong came down and hosted the event and provided some "Wisdom". Our extended family of musical guests joining us and playing on the session, features Karl Denson, Ivan and Ian Neville of Dumpstaphunk, Don Carlos, and Bob Weir himself!

The result is a 31 song / 2 set acoustic and electric performance, including behind the scenes rehearsal footage, and a rare interview segment moderated by Tommy Chong and Bob Weir, all offered on high definition limited edition DVD / 2CD set.

Last but not least, a portion of all proceeds will go to benefit 2 charitable organizations whom the band supports: Save The Children and World Food Programme.

This recording project came about in 2018, at the urging of a friend of mine from Lafayette, LA.  He thought that my Piedmont blues style of songwriting and guitar playing was a good fit for the rhythms and sounds of Cajun, Creole, and Zydeco music.  He took me out to tour the infamous Dockside Studios in Maurice, LA, and encouraged Dockside’s founding engineer/producer, Tony Daigle, to attend my show in Lafayette that evening.  Tony did come to my show that night, and upon leaving, told me that if I were to want to come to Maurice to record, he was my man.  With the help of Tony Daigle and local drummer, Dave Nezat, we began to assemble an all-star cast of Lafayette area musical heroes and make a plan.

The lure of working with such an illustrious & talented group in this multi-award winning Louisiana studio was too good to resist.  I went home from that tour and began to write a collection of songs, specifically for this project.  I returned in April of 2019 to spend one solid week with Tony and the guys, laying down all of the foundational tracks. Over these past several months, we have added various instrumentation and harmony vocals and as of February 2020, completed all aspects of recording, mixing, and mastering.

The ancient Native culture of the South has been an inspiration as it relates to our travels and what has become an annual pilgrimage to the Mississippi Valley. This collection of songs represents our annual migration, just as my ancestors migrated from this region to the Western Plains so many centuries ago; sharing culture through music and more along the way. It is the product of our imagination of what was, and what has become our love of the sounds of the south.
