so, this is my essential mix. i want to say a few things about it!

before writing "worlds", i'd been feeling kinda pessimistic about the future of electronic music. so once i was done writing "worlds" over the course of 2~ish years, i just felt the need to find new stuff that i loved. i did a ton of soundcloud digging, basically, and most of the music in this mix was music i found that way. that's not to say that there aren't classics or songs i've known for a while here, but it's mostly new music.

then BBC radio 1 asked me to do an essential mix, and it seemed like the perfect way to showcase new stuff i was into.

i also feel like it's important to point out that this mix isn't what the worlds tour is going to sound like, really - that tour is going to be only my own music. all originals. (also it's going to be a blast and a visual journey and other stuff i can't talk about yet ehehe).

Käse Kochen Live @ (Market Stage | Rainbow Serpent Australia 2017)

Way of the Artist is a peek into the life of music producer, DJ and sound-artist Roger Martinez. It is a psychedelically-infused, open discussion on what it means to be an artist and all the inner and outer workings of the creative process that takes place inside an artist.

In the dialogue, Roger will give a first hand report on how being an artist has shaped his life and most of his subsequent experiences. How for instance music has become a steady compass – especially in hard times. How it has led him to become interested in entheogens and other states of mind and how he thinks these states cultivate a nomadic way of thinking about and looking out onto the world.

Besides being an artistic, autobiographical testimony, the presentation will also exemplify a vision that can help people who lead a creative life.

Being an artist can feel like a calling. This almost religious or spiritual aspect of being an artist has lead Roger to develop and deepen his vision of life. When he is at work he often has the sense that he's downloading the actions, sounds and images that make up the final works. He sees human beings as potential facilitators to a universal creative force that is everywhere and yet nowhere.

United by a love of good music, dumplings and a taste for hot sauce that very few can handle, there was no doubt that this duo would join forces.
 
Kodiak Kid & griff, both well respected & established DJs and producers within the bass music scene in Australia and overseas, represent renowned labels such as Addictech & Omelette records. 

The pair have been avid vinyl collectors for many years, heavy influenced by artists such as Quantic, Bonobo, DJ Shadow, Cut Chemist, Hermitude, Calibre, RJD2, Blockhead, DJ Krush, Tipper, etc, etc. 

Having first teamed up for their infamous sets in North America in 2013 and the Chill Stage at Rainbow Serpent Festival 2015, they have fused all of their inspirations into a eclectic musical journey, with no genre left untouched, but definitely including a high dose of Trip Hop, Dub, Hip Hop, Downtempo, Electronica & Drum n Bass.

The new project will see collaborations between them in the mix as well, but this is more about two dudes hanging out, sharing their favourite songs with friends, drinking beers, and appreciating the art that brought them to where they are today.  Oh, and constantly trying to raise their chilli threshold.
