Over the past six years, outsider dance producer Air Max ’97 has become known for his dark, mangled set of “oblique club trax” (as he’s described them) that draw from grime, Jersey club and a variety of other scenes with distinct sounds and cultures. The London-via-Melbourne producer has now taken the knife to an artist he cites as one of his biggest inspirations: Becoming Real. In a recent interview, he explained he still plays Becoming Real’s 2010 FACT mix to this day. “It’s come full circle,” Air Max ’97 continued. “Five years later, after speaking with Toby [Becoming Real], I’ve done a remix for his new EP and I’m playing the release party.” “Becoming Real’s kinetic, bodily production style was a huge influence on me when I first started trying to produce music,” Air Max ’97 tells Dummy of the remix, “so getting involved in this release feels like a coming full circle of sorts. I sweated over an earlier version of the remix before canning it and working this one up in one session.” A midnight-hued, percussive rework, you can – and should – tune in now:

As a label that pushes distinctive shades of club music, Nervous Horizon’s compilations are always eagerly-anticipated, and their third instalment, ‘NH Vol 3’, is no exception. Featuring cuts by Tzusing and object blue plus long-term affiliates DJ JM and DJ Plead plus head honchos TSVI and Wallwork, it’s another exercise in gold standard percussive club sounds. Italian-Ivorian producer and DJ Ehua (check her mad Boiler Room Bass & Percs set here) has long been pioneering bass sounds from across the globe. The femme culture affiliate blends up elements of bass music, gqom, Hard Drum and house in her own productions, and ‘Meteora’, which we’re premiering below, is one of the most memorable tracks on ‘NH Vol 3’. Driven by a thumping drum line and percussive textures, it reinforces her knack for crafting club music that’s as interesting as it is brutal.

Color Plus presents 'Pure Energy' - a full length record jointly released by Towhead Recordings and Vanity Press Records. Connecticut bred and Brooklyn based, Color Plus burst onto the landscape in 2017 with two vinyl releases on Vanity Press and Cazeria Cazador. He then founded his own imprint Towhead Recordings and released his first album 'Regular Energy'. Providing production for Eartheater, Little Pain & frequent collaborator Ize along the way, 2019 saw the release of his mixtape 'Roadrunner.'
Expanding on the ideas of 'Regular Energy', 'Pure Energy' is 10 manic tracks that will bring a dying dancefloor back from the grave.
