Deep zone traveler wanders
on the twilight bridge
crossing chasms full of trouble
from ridge to rim

Cowl and cape pulled in against the Tempest bent
in supplication to the wind

Stranger can you tell me
if you know the meaning
of the Riddle
sitting in the middle of the muddle
in a puddle full of people

when he finially got his groove
and later at the gate
as it was sliding towards the latch
he caught a patch of sunlit inspiration
captured in a basket woven with emotions
while all the notions
he held so dear and clear appear
as light and sand and fog and nothin more than that

From my first self-produced solo album released 20 years ago as a holiday album with no actual holiday songs (I can be strange that way).

“A Slow Red Whisper of Sand” was inspired by a Robert Devereaux short story of the same name from the book “Caliban and Other Tales”. I'd like to think I captured the mood pretty well with this strange little piano and trumpet duet.
