Jody Barr returns to open Sudbeat’s 2025 schedule high on a wave of success.

Breaking onto the scene around a decade ago, Jody has built up a serious back catalogue on some high profile imprints such as LNOE, Balance and The Soundgarden, as well as support from elite players such as Sasha, Laurent Garnier and Hernan Cattaneo himself. 

His own label, Portable Minds has grown in statue since launch in 2016 allowing Jody and like-minded artists to release creative projects that buck current trends without fear.

Opening the EP, ‘Cherry Red’ bounces from the speaker. An uptempo percussive framewerk sets the scene as melodics ebb and flow. Frolicking bass notes playfully weave among the arps, creating a fun, summery vibe for these cold winter months. 

Next up, ‘Cordoba’ is presented in two distinct flavours. In original form is a patient, trancey mid-setter with bags of personality and a huge, epic breakdown,
while the Sierra Mix showcases Jody’s mastery of broken beats.

Skatman Unveils Upcoming Double EP “ Believin’ " on Cognitive Prophecy

Berlin-based, Tunisian-born DJ, producer, and label curator Skatman is starting the new year with the release of his highly anticipated double EP, “ Believin’ ", dropping on the 10th of January via his acclaimed label, Cognitive Prophecy (CP records). Known for his genre-defying sets and productions, Skatman continues shaping contemporary electronic music's soundscape with this bold new release.

'Believin’’ serves as both a showcase of Skatman’s evolution as an artist, constantly pushing boundaries with collections that span multiple genres. This double EP is structured as a journey, blending hypnotic grooves, raw textures, and dreamy harmonies across seven tracks that flow seamlessly from the dance floor to introspective listening.

The EP opens with 'Fresh’, setting the stage with a raw, dark, and industrial broken beat offering that introduces Skatman’s sonic vision. It flows into the pulsating energy of 'Merci', a track juxtaposing minimalistic melodies with rich, textured layers. 'Feel It' injects an element of 90s house, while the title track, ‘Still Believin’ featuring the Hungarian singer Gianet, anchors the EP with its soulful vocals and hypnotic rhythms.

On the second half, 'Forget It' shifts gears, offering slight acidic elements, while 'Dream On' delivers an anthemic blend of cinematic melodies, epic vocals, and icy hi-hats. The EP concludes with 'Circle of Despair (Epilogue Beatless Version)', a meditative, ambient piece that leaves listeners in a reflective state.

The dynamic duo of Greek producer Plecta and label owner Jelly For The Babies delivers yet another standout release with the "Mercy" EP on The Purr, featuring the captivating vocals of Veliko. This release offers a masterful blend of progressive melodic elements and house-driven rhythms, seamlessly elevated by Veliko’s emotive vocal delivery.

The EP shines with three distinct versions of the title track: the Club Version, tailored for energetic dance floors; the Extended Version, offering a rich, immersive journey for true aficionados; and the Ambient Version, which strips things down for a more introspective and atmospheric experience.
