Mysterious images from Venice
have accompanied me for many years.
I never really looked at them.
They were souvenirs from another time.
She said they were supposedly originals -
And she was happy.
She just wanted to make me happy
because I couldn't travel with her - to Venice.
Two figures behind masks at Carneval on the Grand Canal.
A gondola rides on calm waters,
accompanies me to this day.
Mysterious images from Venice Have been with me for many years.
I looked at them properly for the first time today -
the gifts from another time.
A name adorns the pictures on the wall,
barely recognizable, signed in a delicate hand.
The lines in black and white,
drawn in the mid-90s in sunny Italy.
Mysterious images from Venice
have accompanied me for decades,
I saw them today for the first time with my eyes open,
the souvenirs from another time.
Mysterious images from Venice
have conquered my soul.
What I didn't understand many years ago -
Masks and gondolas in a distant land.

This is a praise song made of Matthew 5:3-10. 
I thought there were not many praise songs on this part of the Bible, so I just felt like making one would be good!
