One of my favourite Ecstatic Dance sessions I played this year so far - Feels like a good first one to share, following nearly a year of no posts, as I launch my Pro Soundcloud account, moving away from Mixcloud. 

This really was a beautiful & powerful cacao fuelled journey; played live at the Ecstatic Experiences retreat in Devon back in Spring. (next retreat's/weekly dances here: https://linktr.ee/ecstaticdance.uk)

Take a few breathes, have a shake, close your eyes and let the music move you & the ceremony begin. As always with EDance we start grounded and steady, so skip 10-15mins if you wanna get into the beats faster :)

Satin Jackets return to Eskimo Recordings with ‘We Can Talk’, featuring the majestic vocals of UK-based singer Emma Brammer and remixes by Moullinex and Larse. ‘We Can Talk’ is the first single from the upcoming Satin Jackets debut album.  

Original darlings of Belgium’s long standing Eskimo imprint, Satin Jackets announce their debut album with another unashamedly vocal pop anthem featuring Emma Brammer. “‘We Can Talk’ sets the pace for the upcoming album,” the duo explained, “the album itself will be diverse and versatile. Two years of our heart and soul poured into it so it’s going to be the full listening experience.”

 ‘We Can Talk’ is an enveloping record delivering classy piano melodies, crisp beats and a soaring vocal from Scottish Emma Brammer. Recently featured on BBC Radio, London based Brammer elevates the mood for the new year as she explains, “I was hooked on the track [from] the first time. The lyrics are about the exciting and painful first love - maybe it's not so good for you but it feels historical. Loved working with Tim - just good vibes and good tunes.”

This indelible record from Satin Jackets comes with a genre-crushing remix from Portuguese native and Munich-based Moullinex, one of the founders of Discotexas, familiar for stellar remixes of RAC and Röyksopp & Robyn. The package is completed by a stripped back dub version by German producer Larse, renowned for work on Defected and Noir.

Satin Jackets is the brainchild of German music producer Tim Bernhardt alongside lead performer Den Ishu. Their debut album is due for release this April on the Eskimo imprint, having spent the last year between the studio recording it and taking their eponymous live show through the US, Canada, Mexico and Europe, opening their fluid pop appeal and accessible four-to-the-floor groove up to the world at large.

While 'The Infamous' is still getting big plays in the underground music scene, Butch and Chriss Vogt are back in the studio to produce the new single.  Two years after the anthemic debut comes 'Bliss', another infectious tune from the duo, a mixture of live percussions, strings and a piano theme to die for ! With over 20 years consumed by a thirst for electronic music, Butch has released on leading imprints such as Desolat, Cocoon, Rekids, Sei Es Drum and beyond, while maintaining a solid DJ schedule that’s seen him open the minds of crowds at Fabric, Time Warp and his residency at Berlin’s Watergate.  His recent remixes for Cassius and Mighty Dub Katz are doing the damage everywhere. Son of the violinist K.Vogt and a great musician,  Chriss Vogt started studying the piano and saxophone and rapidly entering walls of the world of electronic music, releasing already on labels like Visionquest and Connaisseur. Maeve are thrilled to welcome long time friend Kev Sheridan to the label for his debut release. Kev is one of the most talented musicians we know and its an honor for us to release his first work to the world. This project has been developing over the past few years and now we have a record we feel showcases the deep musicality and talent Kev has.

Although not sounding like a typical Maeve dance floor record, the A side entitled "Alone in Berlin" is a stunningly beautiful piece of music. Its measured melancholic flow creates a shared empathy between listener and composer.

"Wash Over Me" is the A2, and with it comes a change of pace moving into a broken beat rhythm but still maintaining the emotion of the A side. Haunting pads hang over clean staccato percussion creating an overall euphoric vibe.

"Losing Someone Is Never Easy" is the final track on the EP on the B side. This straight up house cut again shows Sheridans deep musicality using a wide range of instruments to weave a beautiful tapestry made for special dance floor moments.
