Having gone quiet for 6 years, Mitch Demon makes a long-awaited return to the electro-techno scene. With a background in drums and keyboard, he has been laying beats in the electro-rock universe. Poker Flat Recordings welcomes back the ever-prolific Alex Niggemann for another speaker-troubling dispatch. This time out, the Aoen and Soulfooled boss drops a heavy-duty release that more than lives up to his usual high standards. 

'Materium' is epic in every sense of the word- a sprawling, tough journey into analog techno – with a dash of house thrown in. It rips through the speakers - the crisp and aggressive production provides the space for growling synths and atmospheric, tense pads. What’s more, the whole track audaciously dissolves into silence mid way through - before exploding back into life via a descending analog synth line. 

'Primary' is no less dramatic, but opts for a dubbier vibe as it builds and releases the ever-present tension. It’s hard, moody, electronic funk for after-hours basements and warehouses. 

Digital customers will also be able to pick up 'Bee' - which leans more to the house side of the fence with a playful, highly infectious groove and enough propulsion to move even the most tired of dance-floors.

Catalognumber 23 – what else is to say? While we’re feeling the spirit of William S. Burroughs blessing this very vinyl-enigma, &ME went particularly mysterious ways to transcend the category ‘dance track’ for this one.
The meditation through bass had been the major discipline of some of his latest cuts, but what you’ll find on this A-side, one could certainly call the perfection of somnambulistic peaktime-fever. The way he’s kneading the lower frequencies, how he’s channeling the expansion and decay of bass must inevitably lead to some aroused moaning. Good vocal-selection, for that matter! Then there are those tension building synths and a staccato-frenzy in the break that might be the ultimate ecstasy-trigger of the season.
“Locust” on B comes in with some smoothly looped E-guitar-coolness, adding whispering hi-hats and a comparatively rich percussive architecture. But then again: rolling bass barrels like a signature and a defence breaking build up that’s ensued by liberating pressure compensation in mighty breaks. Two demonstrations of understated and sophisticated peaktime-emphasis, so to say. Or differently put: a flawless double-A-side.

Label boss Uto Karem teams up with the legendary Eddie Amador for this sweaty workout which nods firmly to the anthems of the good old days. Uto&#8217;s latest outing on his own Agile Recordings kicks off with an ultra-sensual rhythm section before letting the sly bassline set the tone and the quirky percussion intertwine with discordant synths and vocal snippets.&nbsp; On the first rework of &#8220;Reflective&#8221;, we have none other than the mighty Dosem who fattens things up, mangles the original&#8217;s vocal edits and then adds his trademarked melodic chords for a more nostalgic feel. Closing up, Paride Saraceni&#8217;s percussion-led version of the same track boasts commanding stabs, while the rubber-band bass holds everything together in style.
