In this installment of Sound Advice, we talk to Joshwa, the UK DJ/producer known for flipping classic samples from disco, hip-hop and beyond into tech house bangers. Joshwa runs his own label No Bad Fridays and its sub-label No Bad Edits, but he’s also released on imprints like Spinnin’ Deep and Hot Creations, and collaborated with artists like Solardo, FISHER and Noizu. In this exclusive interview, we speak to Joshwa about how he built his career: from studying labels and genres to posting free music and creating community through SoundCloud. He gives advice on transitioning from bedroom producer to international touring DJ, how to set up demos the right way, his favorite producer plug-ins and more.
